there's nothing wrong with learning how not to die or trash your bike.

I think it is great that the CHP is having videos for motorcycle safety. I had a motorcycle for 10 years in Los Angeles when I lived there and I had to drop my bike twice to avoid collisions with people turning left in front of me.
Later I had to have surgery on my knee to fix a broken cartilage. I was lucky it was only that.
