And in 2006, my teenage son watched An Inconvenient Truth, and heard this song that has now inspired him to action.
Let's hope his children don't need a song to inspire them to take action on this, because WE WILL TAKE IT NOW.

Well, my parents raised me to care about the environment but the first environmental song i listened to was Paradise by John Prine
-
"Back to the Garden," Crosby Stills and Nash - from the Woodstock soundtrack, 1969. It seemed to make since, even to a sixth grader.
Then in 1971, I saw this picture on the front page of the local underground newspaper, and a story about a few guys in an old fishing boat attempting to stop a nuclear test in Alaska. I've been hooked ever since.

For me, it was the song "Big Yellow Taxi". I was only a kid when I first heard it - but the image of paving Paradise, and putting up a parking lot has stuck with me even to this day. The line about taking the trees, and putting them in a tree museum still strikes a chord as I continue to hear about the devastation of our rainforests.
The whole song is a 70's cry to take a hard look at how we are abusing our natural resources - but is as relevent as it was over 30 years ago. -
for it was a song from Roberto Carlos "As Baleias" (the wales) that talks about the environment and about the oceans wild life, specially wales.I was 6 or 7 years old and I start to think how much garbage are we doing in the world and how much water are we spending...The next thing I can remember was put a bottle in to the toilet reservatory and save some water every day...PL

I'm going to say The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Actually that book had a lot of lessons in it but you can definitely see how nature always provides for us. It's actually my favorite book of all time.
