The petition to President Obama and Sec Kenneth Salazar of the Dept.of the Interior can be read at this link. I hope you will read it, and then sign it to request that they look at this initiative seriously and hear the voices of the people who want action on climate change, particularly deforestation now.
This petition will be up for about a month at which time I will decide based on the number of signatures whether to send it on or leave it a bit longer. Therefore, I am calling on the Current community to please sign this and forward it to all you know. I will also be putting it on Twitter for informational purposes and a couple other environmental sites. Anyone on Facebook or any other social networking site who would like to forward this there please do.
The more signatures we get the better our chance of seeing this initiative get some legs. And this is not for me, this is for the Earth and for our country. So please, even though I never do this here, vote this up and make it as visible on the Internet as you can. I would appreciate it very much, and thank you to all who have shown an interest in this. I will be posting on more ways I am thinking of getting the word out.
Together we can make a difference.

This is a great Idea! Just got back from DC where I was lobbying on housing issues! i'll be happy to sign this! just so you know I also did bring up the issues we both believe in and at least with the Ma.delegation there is great support on these issues! -

I just wanted to also state this: I don't care what you political leanings are. You can be the most left of the left, the most right of the right, or somewhere in between, or not a label at all. If you care about this planet and are a conservationist and environmentalist and you understand the need we have to be good stewards of this planet, please do not feel inhibited about signing this petition.This is not an exclusively Democratic or Republican issue, this is a human crisis. We will not solve anything by continuing to backbite each other. Where the sustainability of our planet is concerned, politics must be superceded by moral will.

Just how much does an adequate climate bill mean to you? I'm waiting until the Senate takes up the climate bill to water it down some more to have this petition sent to Obama and Congress. You still have some time to let them know that it is the people they are supposedly there to represent who should have a say in our environmental future.
