I love the resilience of human beings in the face of adversity. While the US media works people into a panic with their "sky is falling" coverage of the hybrid flu everyday Mexicans are adjusting to life in a plague infested world. They are venturing out of their homes and returning to normalcy with a bit of humor and artistic flair by decorating their surgical masks.

Donde hay gana, hay maña.

- Honestly I wish people wore surgical masks whenever they got sick, its just courteous like covering your nose when you sneeze. I have some friends living in Japan and whenever they come to visit and get sick they always wear their masks...its too bad that hasnt taken off here yet.

- I just ordered this: Respro Sportsta neoprene respirator. They make a wide range of top quality masks - and they look like their out of Star Wars.
  
  Not cheap, but they are Hepa rated and should keep that nasty swine flu at bay.

  Whether or not this round of flu strain will get to pandemic proportions has no bearing on the utlity of these masks. Please, go to the website and check them out (and no, this is not a commercial for that company). There are many reasons why a person might want to wear a Hepa-approved mask to filter out airborne contaminants. I stand by my statement above.
