For the first time ever, the UK has released a list of people banned from entering the country for "fostering extremism or hatred."Included on this list is Michael Savage, who called the Quran a "book of hate."
Anti-gay preacher Fred Phelps and white supremacist Stephen Donald Black are two other Americans on the list.
Do you think these types of lists should be allowed? Is this list purely subjective? Might this pave the way for other countries to create lists just to keep out certain types of people? Throw in your two cents. I personally can see both positive and negative effects of a list like this.

The link above is a phone conversation between M Savage and Robert Spencer regarding the constant bombardment by Islam to quell free speech with the sole purpose to silence any and all criticism of the insidious purposes of it's monotheistic theocratic designs on the freedoms of all mankind.

"who has more FREEDOM you are us."
Is this a serious question? After reading your post, if you propose all those ideas I am not sure how any person can logically conclude that is more free.
Look, I loathe what Michael Savage says, I do not like anti-gay sentiments, or those that promote them. There are, however, better ways to discourage them than banning speech. Banning offensive speech is a dangerous thing. Who determines what is offensive and to whom? I think abortion is wrong, but I do not advocate picketing, or killing abortion doctors. Do you think it should be illegal for me to express my opposing views on abortion?

Have I once in my comment stated anything other then the protection of others, by all means Mr Savage is a case that I have looked at in depth however I still agree with choice made. To critsise my belief in the freedom of speech is invalid my friend, whilst Mr Savage's rants & tirades may appear tame & less violent then those of certain clerics they still hold a level of HATE & LOATHING which the majority of british citizens would prefer not to hear.We as a country have a multitude of different races & therefore protecting one of them from a outpouring of abuse is paramount in our views. That is a choice I am sure the USA has seen happening more & more. Whilst you believe that I/UK are against freedom of speech my reply is that we are more open considerate & above all compassionate then USA we protect our citizens to ensure we dont have have families funerals picketed, we dont feel unsafe at someone calling our book of faith a "book of hate", a calling that certain aspects of life homosexuality abortions gay adoption being called evil & wrong banned gay marriages stop me if this sounds like USA because this does not happen in the UK so who has more FREEDOM you are us.

I am in total agreement with the publication of the list & find it in no uncertain terms subjective at all. I responded to a thread on Phelps back when the ban was issued on that hate mongering family, within this response I outlined the reasons in full details why they were banned as documented by our home secretary. Comments such as "A Country Intimidated by Muslims" are uncalled for regardless. I am sure that there are some comments that I a UK resident could mention towards the USA however this is would come across as petty so I shall refrain. The comment that the Koran is a book of evil is misleading have we not learned in the thousands of years that religions have been around that they are open to the individuals own interpretation, yes there are some passage's within the bible that one first glance come across as evil & barbaric however we do not hear of anyone calling the bible a "Book of Hate".
Why should the clauses for hate-crimes/speach be withdrawn yes free speech is a right for all however the fundamental right we all share as Human Beings is that we can live our lives without the fear or reprisals for the life we choose or the life we live.To respond to the comment that we have in the past allowed extremists a free reign need to have another look at that list rather than looking for persons of there own origin's on it, they will see that there are others on it.Please see the names upon it they are preachers clerics & mullahs.
"Wadgy Abd El Hamied Mohamed Ghoneim, Abdullah Qadri Al Ahdal, Safwat Hijazi and Amir Siddique, Muslim activist Abdul Ali Musa (previously Clarence Reams), murderer and Hezbollah terrorist Samir Al Quntar and Kashmiri terror group leader Nasr Javed. "
Micheal Savage was banned & on the inspection into why I agree with the outcome as Ms Smith stated
"This is someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country"
The remaining parties banned from the UK
Hamas MP Yunis Al-Astal, Jewish extremist Mike Guzovsky, former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard Stephen Donald Black and neo-Nazi Erich Gliebe are also on the list released today.Artur Ryno and Pavel Skachevsky, the former leaders of a violent Russian skinhead gang which committed 20 racially motivated murders.
So to finalise this reply I will qoute Ms J Smith
"It's a privilege to come to this country. There are certain behaviours that mean you forfeit that privilege."

Geordie01:
While you are perfectly right to say that the UK has the right to ban whomever they wish from entering their country, for ANY reason whatsoever is correct. To presume that you believe in free speech and then to ban someone like Michael Savage is inconsistent.
I loathe Michael Savage, but I think the "truth fears no lie." The idea that his ideas incite violence is ludicrous. I have listened to him for years, even though I am diametrically opposed to his views. I have yet to run in to a SINGLE person who has listened to Michael Savage and was incensed to the point of violence. Michael Savage has also never called for armed, or violent rebellion even though he is opposed to what is common thought of as the prevailing world view.
Do not pretend to believe in Freedom of Speech, and then ban a political commentator simply because you loathe his views. You do NOT hold to a belief in the Freedom of Speech.

The koran IS a book of hate. What is the problem?????
I think it is very dangerous to take the position the UK is taking because of thoughts and ideas. I have no problem with banning those who ACT but the so-called "hate crimes" and "hate speech" needs to go. If we follow this model then Perez Hilton would be relegated to the want ads for his hate filled diatribe against Ms. California.
The UK has many problems. Not the least of which is a country intimidated by muslims and firmly mired in socialism. Ditto Spain. Frankly I would not be surprised to find the hand of Obama or Rahm Emanuel in this but that is speculation based on the behavior of that side during the campaign. Unfortunately with the current administration and the massive number of controlling liberals (sorry for the redundancy) in the White HOuse and on the Hill it may be tough to keep this on the other side of the pond.

Paratus,
Perez Hilton's remarks about Miss California were rude and uncalled for, and he should have simply kept his mouth shut. She really did enough to thoroughly skewer herself all on her own without his ever saying a single word.
However, whether he knew it or not at the time, it may turn out that he was right about her all along. Both her latest activities and the latest information coming out about her may, in time, present her in a less than favourable light. We will have to wait and see.
I just posted an article from the BBC on Current about the latest development in the Carrie Prejean saga.

Previously, I posted a wonderful YouTube parody on Current about the current Miss California that probably captured her essence better than any of her own manufactured public appearances.

In fact, I think that the extremist Mullahs in the UK and Miss California merely represent two hate-filled faces of the same coin. The only difference is that the former are violent, and the latter is not. However, they are both filled with hate, and they both pretend to be religious.

There are some people so far beyond the pale that they should be banned from traveling to a country. Every nation has a right to ban those who are truly spreading hate. The Phelps gang of gay-haters who picket military funerals would fit nicely into that category.
However, I am troubled by the banning of legitimate politicians and political commentators. I am no fan of Michael Savage, but I do think that he should have a right to travel and speak.
This is even more troubling when it happens in the UK, as the government there has a horrible record of allowing Muslim extremists to operate with impunity. Islamists regularly call for the killing not just of gays and women who go without veils, but all Christians and Jews, and Hindus and Buddhists, and most of the rest of humanity, as well.
They, also, openly and actively encourage and support acts of terror against all non-Muslim nations and all believers in religions other than Islam. Michael Savage might be a bit intolerant at times, but I have never heard of him calling for Christians to set off bombs in mosques when Muslims are at prayer or call for attacks on Muslim elementary schools.
Why should one group of people, Islamists, be allowed to preach that violence should actively be committed against others, and a conservative commentator be banned because he is merely intolerant?
So, I would answer your question by saying that lists such as this one can serve a valuable purpose, but one has to be very careful in their use. Whilst some people on it should be banned from entering the UK, it is, also, highly subjective. It needs to be better thought-out and more balanced.
