Very good movie.some realistic secenes are displayed.
Totally saying, watchable, seeable ,worth to be seen.
they have clearly exhibited what is happening in USA.
Ultimately,poor people are suffering.
What we can do?
Simply spectators. -
I lived here for a while. I remember remarking as to how many little houses were in a row, so identical to each other and built in such haste. Where I lived was more like the suburbs, but there was always expansion- and so many casinos. I wondered when the world would ever have enough wealth to support it. Possibly never.

News about the economy is always depressing, and at this point a little boring, but this article really made me think. It's a shame about what's happening in Vegas.

Referring to Las Vegas as the "most empty" is certainly an overstatement. While things are bad now, I've noticed that blue collar families that had jobs during the boom, but couldn't afford to get into one of the overprices houses are now snatching up foreclosures, fixing them up and living the dream. My own neighborhood, an older development, only has a few vacant houses and apart from a couple rough fixer uppers, most sales are happening around a month of going on the market.
Oh, and the Sexxpresso coffee shop: Closed until further notice.

This is charlie i was the girl from deja vu i love that you guys did this show it really shows the big down fall that las vegas is having and im so excited that i could talk about our side of the down fall i hope everyone sees what its like and feels what we feel its really hard out here right now n i hope something is done about it really soon so everyone can get out of this upsetting time in their lives.

This doc is scary, even with the soothing music in the background. There were nice visuals and I like the way that it was split into parts. Courageous work on courageous individuals and families.

Sin City? Go bust? Naaahh. You dont say. Oh i'm starting to weep.
I mean? The town that was started by the Mob?
Go bust? you dont say. I am so shocked. NOT.
Come on, give me a frigin break. This place was always disney land for adults. USELESS AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. When I saw it BOOM up like that a few years ago I saw the INTERNET BUBBLE in the form of a town. It was so obvious this thing is gonna pop. Talk about one of the most useless towns on the face of this planet. Redeeming qualities? Gamble? Take peoples money away? Strip? Alcohol? What? What redeeming quality? GOOD RIDDENS.I for one say. I wont be satisfied until every single thing in vegas has been reclaimed by the sands au naturale. The city aint natural. That city should not exist. Completely useless.
This is not a friggin town, people. Even the water, they gotta pipe it in as it evaporates off their gigantic fountains for eye candy. Vegas going bust? Good riddens. No surprises there. A town all of 50 years old. or something like that.
Oh. Please let me shed a croc tear for you Vegas. Honestly, one of the most useless enclaves on the face of this planet. The sands own vegas and they're coming back.

Well done story.

The most significant point made was the 'uncoupling' from america or the world's economies .. they never were and neither are we.
-
This article does not serve any purpose when you tell us things that we already know. What the media is good in is speculating..WHY NOT SPECULATE SOMETHING MORE POSITIVE to take the fear out of the public.
Its an illusion but so is the media

This is crazy!!!
If you go deep into numbers and political decisions that were made during George Bush 8 years disaster, you'll find out that this is no surprise.
I'm just glad that now the United-States can rely on a good president. One that will do everything he can to help the people and get this economy back on track.

Can't we come up with a law that helps people that don't know the owner of their rented home is in foreclosure and they were never told they would be evicted??? That is 100% wrong, not only on the owner of the homes part but the authorities that kick someone out that has been paying their rent on time. I think it would be simple to know if the renters new about it, the authorities would need proof that the owner sent the renter a notice. Then on top of that the owner should be prosicuted for some kind of theft for taking their money for 9 months. There's solutions to all of these issues, why isn't anyone doing anything about it?

Oh I forgot to mention the goulish reporter who made this story happen.... Those people getting kicked out didn't need your dumb questions as they were getting kicked out of their home. They were clearly in shock and stressed beyond belief, they didn't need you in their face asking dumb questions. Just once I want to see someone that is getting hounded by a lame reporter lash out verbally questioning their integrity as a human being and wonder if they have a soul behind those dark cold eyes of curiosity.

Nice report by Laura. I'm not sure about Adam's intro stuff and the CG about what you call "pro-growth economics." I mean - who isn't "pro growth"? Obama's policies are pro-growth as well.
Vegas is just an extreme case of real estate bubble where the "industrial base" of the city was the tourist industry. It was basically a house of cards (LV real estate) built upon another house of cards (LV casinos/hotels).
(Of course, that's easy to see now....)

My Family and I came to Las Vegas 18 months ago after losing our house back home to foreclosure. As a Father of 4 Children I can tell you that Las Vegas is not the place to come to recover. I have many friends who were working when I got here that since have been laid off due to the economy. Yes Vegas is beautiful but....unless you have a BIG nest egg to get you through DO NOT COME HERE!
Everything that was reported on in this story is a fact! My Family and I love it here but we are seriously considering leaving in the next 6 months. Great Reporting in this story albeit a sad but true story.
I will be twittering this story today. Thanks for the great piece. -
My heart broke for the family who wasn't notified that their rental home was being foreclosed on. I can't imagine what I would do if that happened to me. There should be laws that protect these people, or at least give them a day or two.

So wild. We are just 90 - 120 minutes away in St. George, Utah...foreclosures are huge here, just listed 3 in the past few weeks, but NOTHING like what is happening in Sin City! Should we have seen this coming?
I am working on an eviction up here (trying to get it done PRIOR to law enforcement). The bank has offered $2400.00 to the FORECLOSED owner so they will vacate, yet they are balking, wondering if it is a sweet enough deal.....I feel sick for renters who get screwed over while their landlord doesn't make mortage payments, but the lack of personal responsibility shown by this particular FORECLOSED homeowner is crazy.
Just as mentioned by Clark County Commissoner Rory Reid in this piece, it is time for Las Vegas..for EVERYONE to determine a more healthy future for the economy!

Your profile on the state of Las Vegas really reflected the true condition and effect of the economy. In a time where every public news source is yelling that the recession is almost over, a closer look tells us that it has only just begun for the average citizen. Current News and Vanguard are quickly becoming the only trustworthy source of reality news.
-
All shocking, particularly the renters segment. When watching the fellow and the others at the unemployment office, I couldn't help wondering how many there would be gald to accept positions at the hotels and restaurants now held by illegal alien workers. For example, the sad case of the woman who lost her job at Target and was being evicted..don't you think she would be happy to work in housekeeping as opposed to table dancing and not be evicted? When times are tough, any job looks pretty good.

What will America do for its' people, when the fastest growing American City cannot keep its' citizens and keep a sustaining industry. Like so many other cities and states America's Government has stolen these people's livelihood, outsourcing industry and jobs for the betterment of Big Business and Government Policies. America's Government has failed its' people, and they continue to outsource and sell America off.
