In 2008, NHS spent £350M on management consultants

Last year, Britain's National Health Service (NHS) spent a whopping £350 million on management consultants in England alone. According to the Royal College of Nursing, over a quarter of a billion of this was not spent on patients.

Where did this money go? The bulk of it was spent setting up internal competition in the NHS and for hospitals bidding for 'Foundation' status.

    • It'll be also interesting to see how much they spend on agency nurses vs NHS nurses, who i think are more pricey and work on temporary contracts. tho that might be cose agencies can pay/treat nurses much better than the NHS does.
