Altogether now: It's about damn time.
According to an article by The Associated Press, it only took 140,000 complaints to the Better Business Bureau to get the attention of Sen. Schumer. Oh, that, and several states that have already taken it upon themselves to go after the scam artists. But Schumer said at a news conference this week that he wants a more concerted effort at the federal level that involves the Federal Trade Commission wielding the power of the Do Not Call registry.
Will the senator get anywhere? Hard to say since, as we've already reported, these phone spammers are as easily found as a Mazda Miata with an Alaska license plate. But some progress has already been made against a company called USfiidelis, an extended warranty company recently sued by Missouri officials.

"Personally, I don't know of anyone who hasn't received phone calls telling them their auto warranty is about to expire," she said. "My friends start bringing up four-letter words when I bring up the topic."

It's about time, I cancelled my land line because of these tactics they use. My cars are 16 years and 10 years old and have been out of warranty for years. Now they have been calling my fiancee's cell phone.

Ugh, I hate those calls. I keep getting them on my cell phone, at weird hours and I always panic, thinking that there is some sort of emergency. And how does it take 140,000 complaints? That seems like an awfully high amount to get to before someone does anything.

Raise your hand if you have NOT received one of these calls. I actually pressed "1" once to yell at somebody and ask to "get of the list" And guess what, I was robocalled again 2 days later.
-
I get these calls almost everyday now. Im glad someones finally looking into this.
-
I hate how they always call me from a different area code and I pick up thinking tis one of my friends new numbers and BAM! next thing I know I'm cursing into my phone in the middle of the store or the preschool and get awkward looks.
-
My car is 28 years old and i bought it used. Now why am i getting calls at like 1 and 2 in the morning telling me to "renew" my "Factory Warranty".
-
I always press 1. A 25 second "conversation" ensures they never call back...

Wow, I've never received one of these calls. I have gotten calls from weird area codes, but I never pick up and they never leave a message. Maybe that's what it is...
And here I was pissed that The Blood Center was calling me twice a day telling me to donate. I'm anemic!!!!!

Remember, your private information is not your own, it is part of some corporations revenue stream. It is laughable that the Feds will get involved and actually do something,...as they are probably the ones who gave them the call list in the first place...
-
it really pisses me off when I'm paying for minutes and some outsourced fuck with an accent I can't understand wants to sell me on some bullshit that I don't want.
-
The phone company ought to let us know where calls came from - so we can go pay them a little visit.
