This is clearly suspension material, the stick to Latang's face was on purpose!

Bayda was given a match penalty late in the third period, which carries with it an automatic suspension pending the League's review. Review it they did, and suspended he is not. Here's how we saw it last night:
Let's see: Ryan Bayda took Kris Letang(notes) hard to the boards on an icing call with 1:19 left in the game and then cross-checked him to the face. Intent? Check. Stick work? Check. Blow to the head? Check. "Message sending" at the end of the game? Check. Match penalty? Check. It doesn't get more cut-and-dry for supplementary discipline by the standards the NHL has established this postseason. Which of course means Colin Campbell will instead nominate Bayda for the Nobel Peace Prize ...
Well, not quite. But he's still eligible to play in Game 3 on Saturday night. Here's the play in question
Again, this is "message sending" at its most blatant: a violent play that begot more violence in a game that had already been decided. The only thing separating it from the suspension Daniel Carcillo(notes) of the Philadelphia Flyers received in the first round is the notion that Paul Maurice purposely put Bayda out there to stir the pot. (Which shouldn't be assumed in this case.)
As I said on Twitter: The NHL should apologize to Carcillo and Milan Lucic(notes) of the Boston Bruins. Clearly, the League overreached in its suspensions earlier in the postseason, setting standards they haven't (or never intended to) meet. Because, to the letter, Bayda's infraction is suspension-level; the only out possibly being that Letang wasn't injured.
We know the Igloo looks like Thunderdome. But unless you plan on dangle chainsaws from the ceiling and swapping out Bettman for Tina Turner (or Master Blaster), the rules should matter, right?.

They still have the molson ads! Yeah, I watched SCTV, the Hoosiers, they came here to make it big?! And of course, Benny Hill, "another knock for nooky." Ah, the days before PC. But what's up with it being ok on MTV?
I don't know all the ins and outs of it but there are alot of things available on sites on your PC. Stuff like current TV shows and old ones, too. Some places are: Hulu, TV.com, tital.tv, CBS... of course there are alot more. I can't off hand think of others. But check them out some time. - 3 years ago

Years ago (back before cable & sat TV) I used to watch the "Global Television Network". I used to love a commercial for "Hochtaler", a wine. A babe in a tuxedo and tails. Commercials? Well, I do remember "Double Protection Akwa Fresh" (Hey, their crazy accent, eh?) And those stupid "Molson Golson" commercials. And of course, I spent many sleepless nights watching SCTV (before they sold their souls to NBC) and laughed at Lola Heatherton, Sammy Maudlin, Guy Caballero, Bill and Edna's Organ Emporium, Mrs. Tinsels Tiny Town, etc. etc. etc. They also had Benny Hill, a favorite. And yet today, if you want to watch Canadian TV, you have to live in Canada! :( The times they are a changin'!

unclecharlie, you don't hafta listen to the sports caster/commentators. MUTE 'em. Get up and walk around. Get a drink of water, piece of fruit. Look out the window.
I watch the game on ustreamtv, and sometimes the best site comes from Canada, it's a hoot to watch their commercials. It's almost like seeing a commercial in a tv show, it's not aimed at you so makes no sense. - 3 years ago

It'll make you remember the reason you are part of a society that watch team sports.
It feels good to belong once in a while.

Not down in the dumps, really. Said that in jest, more or less- maybe more as a comment on the sports obsession so many people have. I mean, I'll watch a game, but I sure ain't going to watch 2 hours of some retired players drone on and on and on about the sport, about coaches, about players- that puts me to sleep. I guess, as a member of a society that watches team sports, I'll have to put up with it. (that's me channeling my inner misanthrope....)

What a cryin' shame- I have a brother in law who plays in a hockey league (he's French Canadian, go figure! :)
Living maybe a couple miles from the Igloo, I must admit my lack of enthusiam for watching hockey, especially tragic as my local team is the Penguins. Maybe if I watch enough games some enthusiasm will rub off. Not likely, though. - 3 years ago

That's ok. We're the only ones allowed to use the h because we were grandfathered in. So most cities had to drop the h.
And we won the Prince of Wales Trophy!!!!

Yeah, when I was little my dad and I used to eat ice cream and watch the fights. He'd let me pick the one I liked (black or white trunks). That is to this day a cherished time. I'd be upset if they turned into a hockey game, but now I love hockey. These guys(penguins) are so good. Their fans love them. We have as many fans outside the 'igloo' watching the megatron as inside at SRO.......

Rough game. It seems that the judges would replay and suspend this guy.

They said he was pending a fine and probable suspension. Why they decided not to suspend him I don't know. My hubby said they wouldn't suspend a player in the playoffs. It's in the heat of the moment during playoffs, so they over look it. Go figure!

Why have rules is they are going to do this. Its not fair to the others who played the game by the rules.

Watch the video at approximatly 1:20 seconds. At a different angle you can clearly see Bayda gives LeTang a two handed upper cut to the face with his stick. They had clearly lost the game. This should be enough for his suspension.
But you gotta' love Satan. What a little devil, and that nasty smile!
