It was never meant to be like this. A reunified Germany, at the heart of an expanding European Union and single currency, was supposed to offer a decent, stronger alternative to the "casino capitalism" that Germans have long thought of as represented by the US model that they love to hate. It's and model that may serve to prove that auto risks and failures in the US are too systemic to turn around.
What do you think about the state of the economy internationally?

Sorry, I'm a Grammar Nazi, and I couldn't get past the misspelling of the word 'imminent' in your headline... or, perhaps, the misspelling and misuse of the words 'eminent' or 'immanent'...
Even a good story loses some credibility if the headline is misspelled.... just sayin'.

i hear ya, but i'm thinking of all the german autoworkers in such a small proximity (re: south detroit) having such a large impact on an economy that they may have thought otherwise outside of their reach, so to speak, in an unemployment.... ahhh nevermind.
a systemic economic model is wonderful in a rosy, capitalist situation, however....it's a disaster when one fails the other.
i hope for the best, but expect the worst...
come monday, june 1st, we'll see how GM will effect the global pool of money.
:) Love ya!! smiley....twitterface...etc.

No we are not all in this together. Some of us work to better ourselves and others wait around for the government to help them.

No man, Thats not exactly what I meant.
And I'm not even a conservative. Nor do I support them in any way other than on gun issues.
What I meant was these companies should have seen hard times coming long ago, I did, and I don't even have a high school education, and I prepared for them. Why didn't they? And I by no means aim that at the car companies alone. - 8 months ago
