Engadget have battled the mobs and come out shining with a first look at the brand new PSP Go.

The pics they have look superb, but it does remind me of the N-Gage....

    • I wouldn't if I were you Barca_kid. It is way overpriced... for what? a sliding screen. You don't even get to have a hard copy of your games.. you download them all... so you'll never get any cheap 2nd hand deals...

      it's around $249, £249. Waste of money.

Cube its definately not a waste of money. Ok think about it this way: As there is no UMD purchase you will pay less for your game and you wont have to wait around to get it, and the price goes down over time with occasionaly special deals. It has been announced for £249, €249 and £249 which as you all know are all very different costs so im hoping for the UK pricing to go down. Further its much more than just a slide screen, no UMD allows publishers to put more onto the PSP as the UMD is limited to around 1.8GB of memory or something when downloading u could have much higher if you want. Also not all games come out on UMD anyway anymore - eg ps1 classics etc. off PSN. The console is far more portable and looks a lot sleeker and a nicer design than its predecesors - so in summary great console but do u really want to spend cash on it on release, wait a while for price to go down or just wait for the PSP2? :P

We were all expecting the PS3 to go down in price.... it didnt... I don't see why someone would buy this over the normal PSP... Downloading games.... not everyone wants to download games because their connection is slow... My connection is barely faster than dial up.... So downloading games is a nono for me.

Ok first off the PS3 did come down in price quite drastically there have been what 4 different Ps3s or 5 i thin now.: 20gb, 40gb, 60, 80 and i think theres a 120GB model in US aswell. Right so i have a 60GB PS3 on release that was around £500, i got for £425 and then it dropped loads after i got cause they phased it out the 80GB model Ps3 you can get for £299 and that has a couple of games, dualshock controller etc. now thats quite a lot cheaper than the original so yeah it did go down. Everything goes down in price after time.
Next issue the new psp is far more portable, looks a lot sleeker, it has 16GB in built memory which you can further increase with a memory stick. The new PSP is basically making a bigger transiton towards more of a PS3 compatiable portable console, it now has PSN, and lots of other features the PS3 has. It has improved on lots of things and downloading games will probably be the future for PSP, like i said before you can have a lot more game data on a psp than u can fit into a UMD ike i previously explained. You may need a faster internet then and i believe sony are making kiosks in which you can download it onto them and will tell u info on PS3 and PSP and more.

    • Big improvement, looks visually stunning, easy to take with you. But all this is amazing etc. But 2 major bad points: Still no second joy stick like thing and secondly the price. its selling USA $249. in Europe its selling €249 also. So umm still quite a price difference if u buy in USA ure saving the equivalent of €73.97 or in other words $105.06 :S so if you live in europe ure loosing out big time especially in Uk like me :( but great improvements it looks very sleek and sxi :P

    • Hmm yeah I get what you mean about the buttons, On all playstation controllers they're like that... They like to cause you pain!...

I shall be the first to say... ONE JOYSTICK!!?? do Sony ever listen to their fans and reviewers? no.

This is a big waste of money, no one seriously plays playstation that much "on the go" and if they do.. they have the PSP or PSP 3000. Big waste of money.

If they were to add a second stick at this point of a PSPs life cycle it would make no sense, this will run all the old games making the second thumb pad useless, and if new games were to use the second thumb pad it would either alienate old PSP entirely (by not being compatible) or partially (for example aiming in a first person shooter it would be unfair if some people had one joystick where they would have to use a button to enable aim whilst others can seamlessly run and aim at the same time).

The PSP2 or w/e it's called should have them tho, would make things a LOT easier...

yea tho hate the d-pad hate the price, but on thumb pad yea it would be stupid for them to add it at this stage. hey I'm still happy with my PSP 1000 model =p

    • Now those look awesome... though the D-Pad still looks like the design from the original... you know, the one that makes your fingers bleed if you play Tekken Resurrection too much.
