this is the problem. everybody this if a doctor gives it to you, then it must be okay. the pharmacuitical business is in fact, a business. they want you to search for this drug. because it's "moral" to take a pill to get away from your stress and problems, unlike alcohol or illegal drugs. what's the difference?
there isn't.

Great Post! Big pharma sucks and doctors get kick backs for sales. I am lucky that my medical mj card helps me with issues that I used to take multiple scripts for.....anxiety pain adhd and depression. I prefer to eat it and believe it leaves no toxic footprint. 5 or so different pills many times a day does.

You know, this pod brings up a lot of emotions for me. There are a lot of people who would like to write off anti-depressants and "Big Medicine" as just a business selling snake oil. I can definitely see where these peoples' perspectives come from. In the end, Pharmaceutical companies do just want money. But this medicine is a lifesaver for some people and their families. The girl at the beginning of the video may have some problems, But If my mother were to stop taking any of her medications, my whole family would notice. These medications prevent people from suicide, destructive behaviors and a life that can cripple a family. I do see a problem with over prescribing; but I do not want to vilify the whole industry. As someone said above, I do not think "Doctors get kick-backs for prescriptions."

That dumbassed kid is going to be more screwed-up someday rather than healthy. Bored??? Basketball is fun? Math is not fun? Who said that math was suppoded to be a fun-ride? Too bad for this kid. If she tries to get off the meds in the future, she could die or be deathly ill for a long time.

I think a big thing to look out for is antibiotics. Due to the fact that your body can fight of many of the common infections, people really shouldn't take something like zithromax all the time. These general antibiotics can often kill bacteria that are beneficial to you. Nyquil can often give you a good night's sleep and you'll feel great in a day or so.

Just speaking from experience as a pharmacist, these drugs are much more dangerous than helpful. Most of the people who come to the pharmacy who have been on anxiety and mood prescriptions have that look of addiction, and the way they act when they want it right away is donwright frightening. When I'm looking back into peoples records I often find a long history of being on drugs for affective disorders, and it is clear that these people are in deeper than they think they are.

I never understood the advertisements on television for new prescription drugs. The direct marketing approach advocates viewers to ask their doctor for a prescription when the average american knows next to nothing about how it will affect them. "You need this to feel normal."
I find the style of marketing very similar to the marketing of cigarettes to children and teenagers in the 80's and 90's. "You need this to feel KOOL."

I think its horrible how drug companies mislead and scam people for there hard earned money. Ever since polio was cured every desiase was chonic and "not curable". Intstead they made every thing managable so they could get your money on a monthly/weekly basis. If you look at it what was cured since polio? Drug compies would lose millions they made cures for AIDS/HIV, Herpies, Diabeties and Cancer available.
