Astonishingly enough, the Israelis even within the so-called ‘left’ and even the educated ‘left’ fail to understand who the Palestinians are, where they come from and what they stand for. They fail to grasp that for the Palestinians, Palestine is home. Miraculously, the Israelis manage to fail to grasp that Israel had been erected at the expense of the Palestinian people, on Palestinian land, on Palestinian villages, towns, fields and orchards. The Israelis do not realise that Palestinians in Gaza and in refugee camps in the region are actually dispossessed people from Ber Shive, Yafo, Tel Kabir, Shekh Munis, Lod, Haifa, Jerusalem and many more towns and villages. If you wonder how come the Israelis don’t know their history, the answer is pretty simple, they have never been told. The circumstances that led to the Israeli Palestinian conflict are well hidden within their culture. Traces of pre-1948 Palestinian civilisation on the land had been wiped out. Not only the Nakba, the 1948 ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinians, is not part of the Israeli curriculum, it is not even mentioned or discussed in any Israeli official or academic forum.

So now it's a war crime to defend yourself from attack? I have a solution for the 936 lawyers. Tell the terrorist group you elected to government to stop sending rockets into Israel to kill innocent Israelis and you won't have to worry about it.

There are those that claim that Israel was only acting in self defense but I do not think that is entirely accurate.

Though there is a measure of self defense involved the level of retribution Israel inflicts reminds me of the man that was charged with murder last week for pumping 4 extra rounds into the young man that had robbed his pharmacy only on a much more gruesome scale.

Although I had my doubts about their actions equating to war crimes at first, the news of IDF veterans buying t-shirts depicting the killing of pregnant Palestinian women as killing a future terrorist and getting 2 with one stone, left little doubt that the Israeli army is in need of a serious reality check.

War crimes trials will be a step in the right direction.

The unavoidable reality that we and the Israelis must face is that brutality of that extent is unsustainable. The Romans found out the hard way. I would hope that we have learned enough from history that we would not repeat the same mistake and follow failed strategies and policies right off the edge into the abyss.

Already we are paying the price for OUR involvement in the region by inspiring North Korea to become unreasonable and feel as if they can openly threaten us, not because we have a new President but rather because we are bogged down in 2 wars already and they know that there is very little will among the people to become engaged in a 3rd.

So once again I say to hell with Israel. We owe them nothing. They need to pay for their crimes. Sadly one way or another we will also pay for ours.

This fight, according to the bible, started between 2 twin brothers. Jacob (Israel) lied, cheated, and stole to gain the birthright and blessing instead of his brother Esau (Palestine). Sadly, not much has changed over the centuries.

I understood that Palestine was the only real sticking point.

I thought, perhaps therefore, that Palestine could be declared a religious free zone, akin to a United Nations of Peace. Something like where the Vatican is separate from Italy or where Washington DC is not a state.
Palestine could be an International Religious Free City or State with the same relationship inside whatever permanent boundaries that are established and agreed upon much as that of the Vatican within Rome.

Then Palestine would be the center of religious joy and peace forever.

It is really sad and strangely 'old testament' that both sides, the Israeli's and the arabs, need to exact the last ounce of extremism in the name of defense, and have done so in such an open manner.

Yes, there may be war crimes that the Israeli's are guilty of, but there are equally heinous crimes against innocents of all countries in the name of 'jihad.' All of those actions and crimes require appropriate consequenses -- to help both sides (and the rest of humanity) that craziness in the guise of 'defense' just will not work (no matter what Limbaugh and Cheney say)

I, personally, know only enough of the conflict to instantly identify the inhumanity and insanity of it.

This means that if you attack the murderers you can be sued. Therefore, that means that you can also sue the ones who murdered in the first place. Interesting isn't it?
The terrorists do not dare sue the United Nations for creating Israel. Why not? Because the U.N. ias far too large a body to play with and then lose. The terrorists also do not sue the 22 Arab countires surrounding them for not helping them and for abandoning them for 71 years. Why not? Because then they would have no friends after they become a state. The terrorists do not dare sue the Christian countries for supporting Israel. Why not? Because then it will seem like the Muslims are against the Christians and againthey don't dare start up with so many countries.
So, they take the chicken way out and try to sue Israel for retaliation.
Only the Muslims are allowed to kill and destroy Israel. If Israel dares to fight back and kill Muslims, it's time for lawsuits.

SPEAKING OF WAR CRIMES....

Samira Ahmed Jassim, 51, is accused of recruiting more than 80 women to become human bombs, including 28 who actually carried out attacks.

She has apparently confessed to helping to organise the rape of young Iraqi women. Essentially, she got Iraqi soldiers interested in having sex, to rape these women.

She would then play on the shame associated with victims of rape in Iraqi society to convince the women to become suicide bombers as their only means of escape.

Her apparent confession was broadcast widely on Iraqi media, along with a video of Jassim, nicknamed “the mother of believers”, talking about her alleged crimes.

Both USA and Israel split the PLO and Palestinians to play one against the other. Israel searches for reasons to stay in Palestine and kill the defenseless Palestinians. Israel is keen to make an anti-Iran coalition with Sunni Arab states.
