The former Beatle revealed his admiration for the psych-pop duo, and said that if they rang he up he would be happy to collaborate.
He added: "We need to talk about it. I can't call them. If they called me, I'd say, 'How did you get my number?'. But I'd do it."
McCartney is undoubedly part of a sacred bunch that has carte blanche with who they want to work with. If he rang me wanting to collaborate on ‘Humpty Dumpty’ I’d be in – he’d have to call me though.
Any Beatles or MGMT fans think that it shouldn’t happen?

why can't he call them?? what?
-
But will it be as successful as this collaboration?

Nice one Macca this could be a good thing. However some of Macca's other collaborations are a little bit dodge. Does anyone remember Say Say Say?

Wow. The potential of the two creating something truely magnificent is huge. I remember first hearing oracular spectacular and thinking of the emotions that magical mystery tour evokes. The music mgmt has managed to create today is definitely reincarnate of the psych-pop of that era. I hope they get that number.

You're too old Paul. Leave it alone.
-
He will suck their youthful energy, like a vampire.
And they already suck enough, for seriouslies.
So this would be a bad move for them.
-
good combo i think :)
-
I know I could get the two together, but I'll just let them figure it out! :)

That would be sweet. McCartney could get into his Sgt. Pepper's/Magical Mystery Tour state of mind and the collaboration might be some of the best modern psychedelic rock/pop of all time.
-
hmmm that would be very interesting indeed. i discovered mgmt last year and i have yet to be disappointed in their art. good trip music.
-
oh ... see ... now i know what their music is missing to make it interesting ... drugs. As I vividly recall, psychedelics lower a person's "wow" threshold to the point even the the banal is (literally) dripping with depth and meaning, or the truly derivative seem fresh and new.
It's been too long... drugs. Too long. I sorta miss you. Sorta. But mostly not.
-
hm MGMT, guilty pleasure..
-
I love the beatles, and mgmt, and drugs...so basically my point is i can't wait for the video. Lol

I don't know that Macca has much more to give based on his albums for the last 20 years. The last collaboration I liked of his was with Elvis Costello

McCartney ruined Coachella for me. The only capacity in which I could or would like to see MGMT collaborate with him is on a producer scale. Maybe if he got them to make better tunes he wouldn't sound so trite. But if this is the case, the dude should call THEM. That's lame.
-
I am not in support of this. I am too big of an MGMT fan and not a big Beatles fan. I also think McCarthey's statement about it is really weird ... why can't he call them? and why would his first reaction be 'how did you get my number?' Prick.
