Phelps is not only a wierd old man. He beat and abused his wife and children. I'd honestly like to see the old man hanging from a tree for the evil things he did to his children. Nate Phelps discribed his horrible childhood at some atheist event - I forget what. It's sad that evil men like this are allowed to breath.

Fred Phelps is a despicable human being and does not represent true Christianity. Perhaps it is time that some try to see that instead of using people like him to blame an entire group for one person's hate.

We can't ignore such ignorance. If we do they have won, we have to try to reason with them, I mean if for nothing else the children's sake, I worry about what values and beliefs those kids are going to grow up with. :/

i agree. to ignore it is to become it. hence the word itself. Ignore -ance. to ignore, the state of ignoring something.. That in itself is the root of our countries problems. Its easier to turn away and pretend it isnt happening than it is to do something about it. Speak up America. The dirty laundry isn't going to do itself. no matter where you hide it or how many new things you try to replace it with , the mess is still there until you actually handle it.

Hate cannot be ignored....Love and hope and strength is what defeats and overshadows hate and hateful people....i am proud of those that opposed hate in a peaceful manner in Seattle...the rest of the country can hopefully do the same....

Howard Stern has these assholes on all the time, and makes fun of them mercilessly. He gives them the type of attention they deserve: he puts them into intellectual quiz show competitions with mentally challenged people and porn stars, and they often lose. It's hilarious.

Sure, I never heard of this hate group before I heard them on the Stern show, but now I just think of them as the country's laughing stock. Nobody supports them and they enjoy being hated. They aren't super "right wing" - they bash USA and the Troops and Bush, and often protest at Military Funerals. They even protest The Pope when he visits, calling him "The Godfather of Pedophiles." And they obviously aren't in harmony with any liberals.

No, I wish gay and lesbian groups had NOT taken the time to protest them. It made them seem more "real" when truly, they are a joke, and should be treated as such.
