So true, this legislation is wasting time and tax dollars that could be used to advance the legalization of marijuana, at least at a Federal level. Prohibition is not working.

I'm sure there are some people on current.com, but since Ron Paul said it, they will find something wrong with it.

Well, I still believe this "can be done" we are the "Yes We Can's, Right" ??? So, "Sure, We Can".

We simply need "education" Yes, some education, to teach people the rights and wrongs of weed.

I think this can be done tastefully. Hell! When we learn to drive, we learn how many drinks it takes to be "intoxicated" before taking the car keys and stepping on the gas, right??
Correct, there are rules, and basically it's not stupid, it can be done. Age Law, Rules and Education. "SURE WE CAN"

We need to go the other direction. Interventionism is destroying our country! We must fight for the individual over the state, the opposite is fascism.

Hemp is the best source of ethanol. Marijuana was prohibited due to racial political reason, not based on evidence. Prohibition of tobacco is not the answer and it appears our country is heading in that direction. It would take a telephone pole worth of Hemp and the politicians know this.

I disagree with Ron Paul on some things, but not this. I think he is totally right about this one. I think it's good to have regulations to stop false advertising (lying about what you are selling), but I never thought for a second that I had a less chance of adverse health effects just because I choose to smoke Marlboro Milds sometimes (which by the way are not light cigs, the 'mild' refers to the mild menthol flavor). Also, I am among the majority that thinks cannabis should be legalized. Are we really a majority now?

Well, this is the only time I disagree with Ron Paul. I am sick to death of being unwillingly exposed to second hand smoke. Smokers are damned selfish, and I'm sick of it. Prohibition or Regulation of tobacco? It's about time.

    I am responding to "unclecharlie"

Sure disagree with Ron Paul. Boo Hoo, Second Hand Smoke", LOL you're being exposed to a lot more than that!! and besides, it's nothing like Tobacco.

It's a totally different experience, you'd probably like it, but you're much to much a sissy to try it (too scared), you want to try it, and you're dying to try it, you're just too scared. For all I know, you probably have, but won't admit it.You KNOW: Smoking some weed might do you good. You don't know what you're missing, but I guess that means more for us. We, we just may be the majority now. Isn't that great!! yeaahhh ha

I never had the slightest interest in trying marijuana. My father was into the alcohol/drug abuse/social work field, in management, so I knew all about its effects, its rep as a "gateway drug", etc. Besides, I never felt that desperate to be popular among my high school classmates. I didn't cave in to peer pressure. I spent a few years in the US Navy, and believe me, I got at least 20 years of drinking under my belt in those few short years. I'm not scared to try it, but who am I trying to impress. "To thine own self be true." Besides, I focus on my faith, and never felt a need to let marijuana "enlighten" me. Besides, what happens when I go to the VA to get my cholesterol levels checked, and I get popped? Don't need the hassle. I've had headaches with cops due to unpaid speeding tickest, lapsed insurance, etc. etc. I learned a very expensive lesson. I really don't need to test my luck and pay 4 times the fines AND jail time with marijuana. Thanks, but I'm quite happy without it.

I am responding to your response. NO.. I will not sit still and be quiet. That is the problem. Too many people want to "sit still and be quiet". That is not the answer ,"sorry" . it's not.

You have to speak your mind. You have to be "outspoken" or else it will just continue. and continue. You must use your "VOICE" to be heard. Sorry if you don't like it, that is the way it is.... Remember "Planet of the APES"?!!!!!

"UNCLECHARLIE" come on. It is not the same. It is not like smoking cigarettes. It is totally different. There is a "BIG" difference. Get some knowledge. Do some research. You will be better for it. Pot smokers are not CIGARETTE smokers. there is a BIG DIFFERENCE. Sorry, get WISE

How dare you people. Don't you realize that Vangaurd and the Corrections corporation of America are making hundreds of millions by keeping non-violent offenders in prison? What will America become if these people are at home supporting their families instead of in prison while the family collects welfare? How will Pfizer and GSK survive if they can't prescribe tons of unneccesary drugs ot all the Paxil people in the house.

Like most things Ron Paul says, I agree with this as well. While i'm not an advocate of cigarette smoking, I am for freedom of choice and non intervention especially from the govt on bad habits. Keep the govt from intervening.
