U.N. Report: Israeli Authorities Have Issued a New Wave of Orders for Palastinian House Demolitions
The United Nations report a new wave of demolition orders, given out May 31, by the Israeli authorities.
The orders call for the demolition of 32 family homes in the Jordan Valley. According to the U.N., The total number of people that will be evicted and rendered homeless is 302, with 201 people given 48 or less to evacuate. Fifteen of the orders were given to families in al-Hadidiya, affecting 167 Palestinians, and 17 of the orders were given to families in Khirbet Ar-Ras al-Ahmar, affecting 137 Palestinians.
The Israeli authorities legitimized the eviction and demolition orders by stating that the homes are located in a “closed military zone.” Two families were told to leave their homes within 24 hours, and four families were told to leave within 48 hours. The rest are ordered to appear in court later this month.
