I wonder if the democracy in neighboring Iraq has influenced the recent events in Iran - I recall the tidal wave of democratic protests in 1989 in Eastern Europe, and as the communists dictators fell, people rejoiced on the streets. Has the use of "hard" power given confidence to the forces in Iran that desire freedom? They seem to be begging the world to step up, but no one will take a stand. I think Mr. Ahmenidjad should go bird hunting with Dick Cheney.

That's hilarious, and it may even work in the short term. But it isn't something that can be sustained. Plus, if the protesters have any brains (which I'm sure they do since they are protesting) they will realize that they can have all the hollywood movies they want if their protest actually succeeds.
