Flip-Flops More Dangerous Than High Heels

Image...
Science is in the close collaboration with our every day life now. Constant researches give us information about the things we use or do every day without knowing if it’s good for us or vise versa. Recently, there was a study concerning Flip-Flops. In fact it’s very interesting and timely, as far as it’s summer outside.

"Crocs" are worse - broke my ankle wearing a pair and my boyfriend almost did the same 2 weeks later - that rubber does't give at all on concrete!

Man you are correct I hate the weird twist and nail scrapping the pavement things that happen to my feet when wearing those damn things. If they weren't so handy in getting them on to walk the dog I would never use them.

Seriously I trip more in my flip flops than in my heels, then again I trip over my own feet a lot and wear flip flops more than I wear high heels!

Check out ultra runners and why they run with flat soled shoes, or in the case of Barefoot Ted, barefoot.
Shoes are a bane to the human foot, and posture, in spite of what podiatrists say.
I work in steel toed shoes, with cushioning, etc. I have aching feet.
It takes me a full day of off time to get my feet, back and legs to feeling better.

My feet are truly fucked up with all the years of sports and physical work on concrete floors. Thank goodness I have a driving job now with little unloading or hand trucking freight.

High heels are more fun, sexier and can really lend some height. But I doubt they're safer than flip flops, study or not.

    Either shoe is retarded.

If you want to look sexy I would suggest cleavage or a personality (or both). High heels really lost their edge on most non-asshole men about 15 years ago.

If you want to be comfortable, get shoes that are open instead of flip-flops. Flip flops sound like ducks fucking each other and they look terrible.

Dude, I only wore flip flops once, years ago, and I knew they sucked then. I never wear flip flops for this very reason: they are a strain to walk in. I always thought this was obvious, but apparently we need a scientific study for everything these days. Same goes for high heals. They are nice for a special occasion, but you'd have to be off your rocker to wear them everyday, or wear them to work! For chrissake ladies, who are you trying to impress? The men? Dude, fuck the men, they want you to be uncomfortable and even suffer pain just so they can get a satisfactory view of your gams at work. I say stop letting the men dictate how you dress and show a little self respect.

Everything in moderation! I rotate my beloved flip flops with other shoes so I don't wear them more than a couple of days in a row. I like to think it gives my feet - and ankles, back and legs - a break.

Ive hated those damn worthless pieces of shoe design since I had to wear the as a kid. Trying to run in them was, and still is,asking for pain. A cruel joke if you ask me. I threw several pairs of them of a bridge in disgust; walked home barefoot.

Just because a study suggests flip-flops are more dangerous for one's feet than heels doesn't necessarily make stilettos safe to walk in.

Nothing wrong with going commando on the feet if you ask me! If arch support is what you're looking for though... get a good pair of running shoes. My feet and legs never hurt with support like that.

flip flops are ugly. flat shoes can be cute, but not flip flops. urgh.

I like both, when used appropriately. I'm short enough to like the height advantage given by heels. And it'd be too hot for me to wear running shoes every day, esp during the summer.

I admit it, I used to wear flip-flops religiously. But one day I realised - they are hideous. Absolutely terrible. And the smacking sound they make when they hit the sole of your feet? Gross

When i was like 13 yrs old, a friend's mom almost crashed the car {and we were on a bridge!} because her flip-flop somehow got stuck under the gas pedal!!! needless to say; it was traumatizing!!

flip flops really do a number on your feet, over time

b/c they cause the big toe to turn outwards, towards the other toes, and brings the second toe inwards, towards the big toe, b/c of the flip flop strap between them pulls them towards each other each time you walk

it leads to a lot of problems when you get older. not to mention there is no arch support, so you can get flat feet from them too

i was told this by a reflexology masseuse who worked with a lot of people's feet over the years. if you think about it, it makes sense.

if they do not hold just under the sole of your foot while lifting your foot up parellel to the ground they are likely not fitting right. you should be able to get a thunk* and not have them fall off or slide out of position.

mine fit like a pair of sneakers

Two simple rules about flip flops:

    1) Guys should never wear them unless they're in a group shower, and

    2) Chicks should only wear them if their 2nd toe is shorter than their big toe.

    Otherwise, it's just offensive.
