Welcome to remote storage DVR's. Today SCOTUS made it one step closer to reality. Basically what this does is make every modern TV essentially a DVR storing all recorded materials on local storage at the provider as oppose to boxes in individual homes. As you may have guessed the major studios are not happy.

The battle continues for the market share of viewers. I'm sure satellite companies will closely follow with their own version. Healthy competition is a good thing. Monopolies are not!

I hope they are not going to overcharge as they do now on the cable services. I am patiently waiting.

I assume this still means that a person can still only access what was recorded by them? The "it's for personal use" seems to be the thing that lets the people as opposed to the studios win these battles. Now, on the other side, I wish more studios would learn from Hulu and take it ever further by letting my access all programming and all seasons of programs online, even if there are normal commercials.

this also means the companies can store data about everything you watch and how much and how long you watch.

Millions $$$ in FREE market research at our expense.

It also means that programming gvt doesn't WANT you to see or the company doesn't want you to watch will NEVER be shown.

We're giving up waaay too much autonomy in personal choice to these corps---NOT GOOD!!!!

Much better to save on a private non-matrix-connected device.
