Life of Brian No Longer Illegal in Glasgow

After 30 years of being an illegal explicit piece of cinematography Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” can now legally be shown in Glasgow, Scotland.

In 1980 the Glasgow licensing committee decided the film should be rated X the highest certificate possible and should be banned from being shown in any public venue in the city.

This was due to the up rage many Christians felt when they viewed this hilarious satirical re-telling of the life of Jesus. Although the film actually portrays the life of a man named Brian who experiences all the events Jesus did, he is not actually Jesus.

Due to the films wide availability on VHS and DVD cases of banning such as Glasgow’s were forgotten until now. Glasgow plans on having an event made of the first public screening in which members of the original cast will be invited.

It is humorous when authority thinks that banning films, books or certain music will decrease its popularity. On the contrary it only makes the item more sought out after.
