Young people in the UK have been learning about the intricacies of ‘manba’ by making friends on the other side of the world using social networking sites and learning how to re-create the style through videos on YouTube.

Wait? Brittish people can tan? (forgive me)
-
They are just bad at it.
-
anyone else find it funny that Caucasian British girls are emanating a style which originated because Japanese girls were trying to look Caucasian?
-
It's so weird how different trends get started.

oh dear. Quite an interesting style although i can't really see it catching on. But I think that aslong as people are comfortable in whatever they're wearing ... we shouldn't really kick up a fuss.

I've never seen anybody on the tube or anywhere else in the UK trying to copy the gyaru style but if I did, and they looked as bad as the pair as the pair above, I'd struggle to keep a straight face.
-
i don't know why.... but Japanese girls can get away with a lot more in terms of dress sense than Caucasian girls. It's a ludicrous style but I don't think some of the Japanese girls who do this style look that bad (at least not in terms of in photos). Caucasian girls however should leave well alone.
I think Japanese youth culture is really interesting though. Especially when in the west definite youth subcultures seem to have nearly disappeared.

I know this picture keeps on coming up again and again, but it's so ridiculous I have to do it.
I agree that Japanese girls can get away with so much more in terms of wacky fashion but I think it goes both ways.

Oh my goodness.
That is disgusting.-

These guys have a touch of Al Jolson to their look...

Copy? This is what "copy" means nowadays? Oh dear.
Pictures of Japanese examples of this style look, unsurprisingly, like Japanese people with unusual makeup and clothing. These two look like they'd fail primary care screening tests for mental illness.

Friends don't let friends become disgustingly fake posers. Why would they do that? Are teens facing the oppression of individuality in Europe? Well even if they are...they need to find some other way to "fight the power" because like it's been said, the Asian girls can pull it off way better.

This is not an attractive look... for either girls in either country. I'm all for self expression... but this just screams " I'm a nut-job" No one should do this. It's creepy.
