Sri Lanka: The Dark Side Of Paradise - How I Got Past The Border And Witnessed The Wake
On the 19th of June 2009 my film crew and I became the first civilians to see Mullaitivu from the ground. It was the scene of the final battle in Sri Lanka's bitter civil war with the LTTE separatist rebels. We filmed what we witnessed for a documentary that will tell our story.
This is the first part of my blog on how I as a 25 year old student journalist got lucky in Lanka and ended up getting unprecedented access to the military and areas where many foreign journalists are barred.
