I clicked on this from the front page because I read the title and thought, "How the f*** are they going to do that?" And from the sidebar, there is also a Grease video game coming out...
Anyway, this would be awesome if Asteroids had a plot. Love that game though.

Space Invaders will be the prequel, and galaga should be the sequel... really they should make it a trilogy and when it comes out ill watch it on bootleg

Perhaps it will be something like The Wizard, about people PLAYING games rather than an adaptation of the game itself... Otherwise I can't imagine what the purpose of buying the rights would be...
It's ironic that even games like Astroids can make it through Hollywood, but the one game that I was was adapted, Dragon's Lair, can't get a break, even with Don Bluth interested in directing.

I'd have to agree with pjacobs51, this could possibly be the biggest waste of celuloid ever...I doubt it will even make it to the testing audience,unless of course JJ Abrahms has anything to do with it!
