I thought this would be a more interesting story, but it's not.

I guess as long as he wasn't smoking it on the job or coming in high it's none of their business.

So smoking tobacco and smelling like a burnt anus is okay but smoking pot is baaad.

Every job I've worked has had about the same amount of smokers who were ancy for a cigarette as there were folks ancy for pot.

Both groups had their negatives but the fact remains they were working and supporting their community.

I'm glad he got to win the court case.

I work with guys that come to work stoned. Not too good in a machine shop where we work with heavy equipment. I used to years ago, but it does nothing to make the work any better.
I know, I know, it cures cancer, makes people smarter, gives them more energy, cures glaucoma, gives them motivation, all the usual bullshit. It's just bullshit.

Cures glaucoma is a misstatement. Cannabis doesn't cure glaucoma, but it does relieve pressure in the eye caused by glaucoma. I don't think that is bullshit. I think it's a proven fact.

You may not agree with many things about cannabis, but that does not make the facts bullshit. It may be your opinion, which is bullshit. But hey, you're entitled to your opinion and bullshit.

The fact is that 99% of the people that claim to need medical marijuana are full of shit and fucking it up for the people that might actually need it. That's what is bullshit. Come on, be honest about it, how many people do you know with a cannabis card actually need it for a medical condition? Other than 1 person, a cancer patient, every one I know that has one goes to a bullshit doctor that just signs off for $200 for the script, and it's all about getting stoned. At least be honest, it's all about getting stoned. And the stoned guys where I work make the most mistakes, the most scrap parts, call in sick the most, and in general, are fuck ups. Why not admit that it is just about getting stoned? As for stoned prison guards, if he smoked it one day before work, it's still in his system. Do you want someone guarding prisoners in your city under the influence of anything? Prison guards in this area of CA average 72,000/year. Up to Mid $100's. That is pretty good money. I would quit smoking for that. I actually quit smoking for way less than that.

He was off duty when he smoked it, at least he was responsible. And the government won't legalize "mary jane".

I wonder if this would set a precedent for similar cases outside of nebraska. I can't imagine that they have that lieniate of laws, since it is the midwest.

Here's an Omaha World-Herald story that gives a lot more details. Apparently this guy was in administration and not a prison guard as assumed. It sounds like Nebraska has a certain step-by-step process that happens when they test state employees; they can't be fired immediately, which is what happened to this guy. So yeah this story is actually not as exciting as it could be, but it's still a score for the pipe.

What was he doing wrong? He smoked some herbs. Hang him from a tree and beat him like a penyata. Not really folks It just goes to show ya that any one can get caught and that every body that smokes weed is not a bad person.

Responsibility is the key here. He is a government employee. He knows the law. If it is illegal and he breaks the law he should be held accountable. That being said he wasn't caught with it. What happened to 2nd chances? The point here is that he shouldn't have been doing this. Off the clock or not.

I think more people should get fired from there jobs for dicking around and not working.
As long as your not puffin doobs on the job, and you can come in and work to the standards that are set for you, no harm, no foul.
