Okay I'm not entirely sure that you really need to hear this, but... the criticism is not that Transformers 2 is a loud expensive action movie, but rather that it is a SHITTY loud expensive action movie.

Critics didn't complain that the plot was "trite," rather they complained that the plot was INCOMPREHENSIBLE. Not that there were robot battles, but rather that the robot battles were so poorly shot that you can't tell who is who or what's going on. Not that it's relaxing entertainment, but rather that so little care went into making it that it ceases to be entertaining. Because Michael Bay just doesn't care!

Dark Knight was a big loud expensive action movie that made millions, but critics fell over themselves to say how good it was. Hell, even Crank 2 got a bunch of great reviews. Transformers 2 is a two and half hour toy commercial with hard-to-watch CGI, in which every other aspect of the film -- characters, dialogue, music, jokes (any or all of which could have been fun too!) -- completely perfunctory afterthoughts.

Oh and Megan Fox's breasts. They're nice.

These movies do suck ass, but they're great if you turn off your brain before sitting down in the theatre.

Keep up the good work Ben.

Uhh no. I work 5 days a week. Went to see this the one day I was free. It was terrible. It kinda made me very anxious, and more frustrated that I already was. This guy did have a good thing to say though(though he didn't exactly said it). When you're exhausted from the work week, a COMEDY is the best remedy, Can be indie, or it can be hollywood. As long as it's funny.

    Just my two cents

It's true though. I hated Transformers, just like I hated Resident Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean 3, but the fact is, I spent my money and time on them instead of on Away We Go and The Secret Life of Bees. I like a good indie flick as much as the next semi-dependent college student, but after a long week, I just can't bring myself to watch another inspiring, heartfelt, cinema masterpiece and instead choose to watch robots exploding and the zombie apocalypse.

Seriously Pheidias what the hell was up with Pirates 3?

The only reason I enjoy watching the 3rd one is when Depp is in the locker. That scene is just amazing.

But the elizabeth swan "pep talk" was one of the worst scenes in a film that I can think of.

    Image...

I kinda agree with you Ben, one film I've remember seeing that I loved and the critics loathed was from 2007 titled "Wild Hogs".

Even though critics slammed it (the Rotten Tomatoes score was a lame 14%, check the link above), I kinda liked it and it was funny, plus it topped the UK film charts for 4 weeks.

This is probably one of the worst movies I've spent money on. And shit yeah, robot fights are awesome, no one is arguing that, but honestly, if Michael Bay had a soul at all he would have spared us this bullshit.

Ben Hoffman, you've disappointed me again.

Did you watch the pod review send ins for the rotten tomatoes show? How they condensed Megan Foxxs role in a 144 min movie to that one scene where she put her hand over her mouth.

I thought Rotten Tomatoe was going to be a show about fair, quality reviews.

I mean crap like this happens on most of there reviews and they let it air.

Um, I really enjoyed Transformers 2.
So how about the rest of you just STFU?
    It's an opinion, assholes.
Just because you disliked it, it doesn't make it a bad movie.

    YEAH!!! You are win man.

The attitude i share, but i will admit transformers 2 wasnt a truly awesome movie. I just imagine you saying Die Hard instead of Transformers 2 and all is well.

i knew this movie was gonna be bad... the only reasons i went 2 see it were because my dad paid for my ticket and the special effects. Unfortunately i could barely see the special effects because everything was too big for the screen, the camera moved to quickly, or i was too busy asking myself things like "WTF is a decepticon doing on a satelite?" or "Which one is Megatron again?" Booooooooo, Michael Bay, once again, you failed.

more or less the critic's disliked transformers 2 because ,regardless of what most ppl think if they liked the movie or not, if you saw the first one there is some BIG FUCKING holes in the storyline and plot that don't even match up to the first 1. For example, the big fight scene at the end of the first movie in LA. Yet in the 2nd one the government was able to cover that shit up? i dont think so
