Sarah Palin to resign as Alaska Governor

Image...
Sarah Palin made a surprise announcement Friday that she will resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, saying she will try to "effect positive change" from outside government.

Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, hastily called a news conference at her home in suburban Wasilla, giving such short notice that only a few reporters actually made it to the announcement.

She is handing the reins over to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will be sworn in at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. Parnell and most of Palin's cabinet and Palin's family were at the announcement.

Palin was vague about why exactly she is stepping down rather than finish out her first term, which ends in 2010.

There was no immediate word as to why she will step down before the end of her first term. Some have speculated in the past that Palin may be interested in a run for president in 2012, but she did not mention running for another office at her press conference. Sources told NBC's Andrea Mitchell that it appears Palin is out of politics for good.

this is interesting because now is the time for a presidential candidate to start laying the groundwork for a run at the presidential office. I think that instead of becoming president she should take over fro maury povich

She doesn't even stay in Alaska that much anymore. There's more to the reason why she's quitting. In all serious, she 's constantly a hypocrite in her own values and beliefs. When you think about it, she was giving the Republican Party more headaches than relief. Anyone disagree
s with me that Meghan McCain should run the Republican Party?

With all the trouble she has had with running around with family drug dealers and not being able to take care of her kids as touted by the Republican family value crowd, It's high time she got out of the public eye. Way too many skeletons in her family closet.

I'd say the country dodged a bullet by not electing McCain / Palin ticket. She decides to bail on the Alaskan gov job, what that was to hard WTF. Doesn't bode well for finishing what you start.

Why? Did she get offered a talk show? Kinda like Tyra meets Huckabee with a dash of Hasselbeck from the View?

    *scratches head*

I really hope she doesn't try another presidential run. For one I don't think she would win and for two, the woman is just a troll. I thought throughout the whole campaign she was just a negative prescence.

I was hoping she would resign from politics altogether, anyone that says Ilegally occupying Iraq is as act of God should resign from the human race, but I'll accept a resignation from politics in lieu of.
