Filmaka is entering the final stretch of its world-wide Feature Film Competition. Undiscovered filmmakers compete each month by uploading a 3-minute short to their website - at the end of a year, one is chosen to have his or her feature film produced by Filmaka founder Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham, Buena Vista Social Club). With offices on three continents, the Los Angeles-, London-, and Amritsar-based company has selected finalists already from the Netherlands, Argentina, South Africa, Sweden, Mexico, the UK, and the US. All finalists are judged by an international jury of veteran filmmakers including Paul Schrader, Werner Herzog, and John Madden. Nine more slots remain to be filled. The current competition theme for entry submission is THE OTHER SIDE. Submissions do not have to be in English, but English subtitles are recommended for non-English films. The year-long Feature Film Competition will close in approximately three months.
