US Congresswoman denied her medicine by Israeli prison guards

Image...
The Israeli prison guards are denying the right for Mairead to access her medicine. Continue to email and call Mark Regev and Shlomo Dror and express your outrage over the treatment of the FreeGaza21 while they are imprisoned. The women have no access to their luggage or their clothing.

Mairead is fasting, not just for her friends incarcerated along with her, but for the 11,000 Palestinians also thrown into jail, many without benefit of trial.

This is outrageous. What does Israel hope to achieve this way? It only degrades Israel's image even more.

    ==================

    A life in ruins

In the immediate aftermath of Israel's bloody three-week war with Hamas in January, Peter Beaumont travelled to Gaza and met the Palestinians devasted by the death of their families and the destruction of their neighbourhoods. Six months later he returns to find they are still waiting - to rebuild both their homes and their lives.
The force of the explosion that destroyed Shifa Salman's house in the northern Gaza district of Jabal al-Rayas folded floor into floor as easily as pastry. It pushed pillars through concrete, reconfiguring her home into a bristling dome. The tail-fin of one of the Israeli bombs responsible still sits on top of the rubble, innocuous as a child's discarded toy. These days, pigeons and sparrows nest in the cave-like space carved out by the detonation inside the ruins where mattresses and bags of flour are stored, the latter stencilled with the initials of the World Food Programme. Sleek, aggressive cockerels patrol the floor, flying at intruders.

Six months after Israel's war against Gaza, Shifa, a 20-year-old student, sleeps with her family behind the fallen house. A trodden path leads through the rubble to a row of cramped, ramshackle shelters open to the elements and roofed with hessian sacks. They are identical to the cattle pens that stand beside them.

On closer examination I can see that the frames have been constructed out of cast-off sections of wood and metal lashed together. What walls that exist are fashioned out of old pallets and branches woven into crude wicker. Or more sacking, staked into the soil to make rudimentary windbreaks.

Shifa's family are Bedouin. Until recently they farmed this land close to the barrier, in an area once used for missile launches against the Jewish communities on the far side. This was one of Gaza's limited areas of agricultural production in a densely crowded urban area, home to 1.4 million people. Because of the missiles, this neighbourhood of farms and little factories was treated to a scorched earth policy.

Inside Shifa's own tiny, dirt-floored "compound" a fire pit has been scooped out of the earth and filled with twigs. On it sits the blackened pan in which Shifa and her mother make stews of molokhiya - spinach-like greens - with chicken, garlic and onions. "This is my kitchen," says Shifa shyly, in English. A piece of broken board is propped on two drums to function as table. Here a jam jar sits, holding a pestle and a solitary sharp knife.

I first came to this house in January, in the immediate aftermath of Israel's war against Gaza, visiting the Salman family almost every day. The family were sleeping in the ruins to shelter from the rain, surrounded by the stinking bodies of their sheep, killed during the assault. Then, Shifa complained that the frightened younger children were kept awake at night by the sound of packs of dogs scavenging among the carrion outside.

A slight and pretty woman with dark brows, Shifa is walking along a road where the ruined houses of her neighbourhood stand on each side like stone-piled graves in a desert. It is 7am and she is on her way to meet the bus that will take her to university. She is wearing a black abaya, the head-to-ankle veil that is the uniform of the university, and carrying a pile of her books. Both books and the veil were donated by the college after Shifa's family lost most of what it owned. "There used to be a factory here," says Shifa, pointing at a collapsed, blue-painted metal structure. I am reminded of the last time I saw this building. A herd of cows lay slaughtered in the field outside.

"My life used to be so good when we had a home. Now it is awful." She wipes a tear away, trying to hide what she is doing. "This street used to be full of cars," Shifa explains. "It was easy to get to university. Now I have to walk for half an hour before I can get a ride. There used to be houses here, but everyone fled after the F-16s attacked. After the tanks attacked. Only a few of us have stayed."

So few, in fact, I quickly learn their names. There is the Khader family, who have built a complex cloth-walled

“The landing of two wooden boats carrying human rights activists in Gaza is an important symbolic victory ... Above all, what is being tested is whether the imaginative engagement of dedicated private citizens can influence the struggle of a beleaguered people for basic human rights, and whether their courage and commitment can awaken the conscience of humanity to an unfolding tragedy.”

We began this campaign three years ago on hope alone. Many thought it couldn’t be done. We did it. We broke through the Israeli siege. But we need your help to keep going. To date, the Free Gaza Movement has organized eight voyages to Palestine, successfully arriving in Gaza Port five times. We have brought dozens of human rights workers, journalists, parliamentarians, and others to Gaza, as well as tons of desperately needed medical and humanitarian supplies. Free Gaza boats are the first international ships to sail to the Gaza Strip since 1967.

Some are wondering whether or not this project is still sustainable. We don't just believe that it is - we know that it is. If history demonstrates anything, it is that the greatest of injustices can crumble in the blink of an eye when confronted with a well-organized and determined resistance.

A former US Congresswoman is imprisoned in Israel and no one in this State Dept. gives a damn? Has Hillary Clinton said anything about this?

The level of lies never ceases to amaze me, everyone, be sure to actually watch the woman speak and say, she is not leaving of her own free will. That's all I needed to hear. Go back to Ireland lady, your people need you, Gaza doesn't like gringos no matter what they profess.

And another thing, the only place on EARTH where Al Jazeera offices have never ever been shut down is in.............ISRAEL. This is another big hunk of bullshit by High Roller.

1st off, they do not understand Hebrew, which the legal documents they are asked to sign are in.
Maybe they should put these in English or any language needed so the people KNOW what they are signing.

2ndly, they've been told some of the documents make them say they are guilty and cannot come back for ten years. International law says they are NOT guilty since they were in INTERNATIONAL WATERS recognized by all nations.
Who wants to sign over their guilt when they are NOT guilty?

3rdly, Israels image for being blood thirsty and its unending GREED is what drives ISRAELS INHUMANE actions on mostly INNOCENT PEOPLES.

    And lastly,
HOW CAN 100'S OF HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENTS, MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND MOST OF THE WORLD BE WRONG?

HOW COME ISRAEL BREAKS INTERNATIONAL LAWS EVERY TIME TO KILL PEOPLE, OPPRESS THEM, STARVE THEM, STEAL THEIR LAND AND AT THE SAME TIME CRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM AND ASK FOR THE LAW TO BE ON THEIR SIDE?

YOU ARE FUCKIN NUTS TO BELIEVE ISRAEL IS INNOCENT

    WorldPeaceTV

What's fucking nuts is that the Palestinians have somehow managed to convince the world that they have a right to attack innocent civilians daily but Jews can never be sanctioned to fight back. Every legal document in Israel is available in English. And if they want to contest whose waters they were in they may do so in international court. What's more, Israel has the right to deport foreigners as well as anyone, and at least they are not in prison camps like Ling and Lee who are directly related to this Issue because Iran and North Korea are in cahoots and iran aims to destroy Israel at Palestine's expense. You have no perspective of the world, just whatever piece is trendy to you.

In my last e-alert, I was the bearer of bad news: Deep within Judaism's most sacred rabbinic writings, the Talmud and Zohar (Kabbalah), there exists the obligation to overthrow existing Gentile and Christian society and establish a “new Jewish order.” Such Judaic teaching powerfully diminishes the value of Gentile lives, particularly today in Israel’s occupied territories and Lebanon.

I was consequently vilified by a number of readers. One asked, “Where do you get this trash?” He said that if he needed to know the dark side of Judaism, he’d rather do it from Mein Kampf!

The truth is that, with the possible exception of some secular Jewish congregations, every synagogue in the world contains the Talmud and Zohar. It’s from these works that my assertions came. They are the two most important sources of inspired literature for observant Jews, greatly surpassing the Bible. The Talmud however, is the most universally read and applied.

Herman Wouk, Orthodox Jew and famed author of The Cain Mutiny, affirms, “The Talmud is to this day the circulating heart’s blood of the Jewish religion. Whatever laws, customs, ceremonies we observe—whether we are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform or merely spasmodic sentimentalists—we follow the Talmud. It is our common law.” 1

One would think that religious literature so centrally important to one of the world’s great religions would be easily located in local libraries. It is certainly easy to find the Bible or Koran.
Why are library shelves vacant of the Talmud and Zohar? Quite simply, it’s because Judaism teaches that the law they contain was given to Jews alone and it’s wrong for Gentiles to read that law. The Talmud says, “The goy who pries into the law is worthy of death.” 2

2- Abodah Zarah 26b, Tosephoth. Although this inflammatory dictum was omitted from the Soncino translation of the Talmud, the Jewish Encyclopedia in its article on “Gentiles,” p. 617, confirms its existence in the original.

My question is , Where is our Government ? This woman is a former US Congresswoman. Why are we not stepping in and getting these people released. Has our Government once again turned a blind eye to Israel . Have we turned our backs completely. This woman needs her medicine . And once again Israel is standing in the way of it happening.

Quietly, all of you not directly involved, back away put down your pen's, your phone's and your check books.
HELP THOSE WHO WANT FREEDOM AND PEACE REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY ARE TO GET AWAY FROM THE AREA. there are no displaced human beings, only sentimental fools clinging to imaginary borders and ideologies, refusing the rest of us any peace of mind. Go and fight and die if you must I will have only sadness, no guilt. I however will have a respect and a reverence for your determined Idiocy. A human being is the only animal I know of on this earth that will fight, and die over such nonsense.

ADL Condemns Racist, Anti-Semitic Tirades At Rep. Cynthia Mckinney's Concession Speech

Atlanta, GA, August 9, 2006 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) expressed outrage over the incident last evening in which members of Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney's security entourage, including individuals associated with the New Black Panther Party, physically and verbally attacked members of the media, spewing racist and anti-Semitic epithets.

"It's astonishing that in a democratic election anti-Semitism still rears its ugly head. Once again some McKinney supporters have resorted to anti-Semitism and racist language and are blaming Jews for her loss to an African-American opponent," stated Shelley Rose, ADL's Southeast Region Associate Director. "The fact that she has frequently included The New Black Panther Party -- which is perhaps the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist Black hate group in America-- in her security entourage is extremely troubling."

I'd detain her racist ass too, and smack her a bit like she slapped the young American guard in the congress building. Fuck her, black fascist.

Here I am considered an anti-Semitic. This is because the truth is anti-Semitic and if you are going to tell the truth that is what you are labeled as. Criticism of Israelis and Zionist Jews is not welcome. It wouldn’t matter what evil they may do. It is okay. Many of the people at this site are as murderous as the Israelis. They joke about the murders or they talk in convoluted circles about how complex it all is. In any case… none of it is Israel’s fault. This item in the MSMtoday says it all. What can anyone say to justify such evil? Nothing… there is nothing you can say.

    Highr0ller

If any of your criticism ever came from an objective source, it would be welcome, believe me. But none of it I have ever checked out ever, ever has. Al Jazeera is clearly biased, so is BBC and several other of your sources. Try finding something directly from a news feed or pictures that are not doctored. Try finding some stories with both sides and quit dehumanizing Jews by calling them monsters! And know where your sources allegiances lie for a second.

UN Expert denounces seizure of aid boat by Israeli forces
    2 July 2009

GENEVA - The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Richard Falk, denounced the unlawful naval seizure by an Israeli gunboat on the high seas of a ship carrying medicine and reconstruction material to blockaded people of Gaza.

    ===========================

Well.....what are you going to say about him?

    ==================================

    and ROBERT FISK:
Robert Fisk holds more British and international journalism awards than any other foreign correspondent. The Financial Times described Fisk as "unrivaled as a war correspondent." The London Sunday Times said of him, "He is a devastating witness to the failure of politics to guard mankind against itself." His book, Pity the Nation, a history of the Lebanon war, was published to great critical acclaim. His latest book is a monumental 1,000-page work, "The Great War for Civilisation : The Conquest of the Middle East," which has been described by the New York Times as "an unflinching, stunning achievement." ========================== Robert Fisk is the most respected journalists in the world. Reporting independently from the front lines of war is an increasingly rare engagement for journalists working for major international media outlets. From Iraq to Afghanistan, reporters are increasingly embedded with advancing Western forces on the front lines, operating without independence. Fisk is in the position to take the BBC to task.......as one of the few unenbedded journalists in today's world. Most journalists are reporting from the frontl-ine with the troops on our side............giving a very biased view as they simply regurgitate the military briefings. When Israeli military forces launched an invasion into the Gaza Strip, international journalists were barred entry into the territory by the Israeli government for the majority of the conflict. This despite a ruling from the Israeli Supreme Court that called on the government to allow international reporters into the territory. Major international media outlets, including CNN and the BBC, ended up reporting from hilltops in Israeli-controlled territory kilometres away from the actual conflict. The BBC is sadly losing its edge. I hope I'm wrong because it's a shining light.....but I personally prefer Chanel 4 in the UK. British journalist Robert Fisk has offered fiercely independent accounts of conflicts throughout the Middle East for decades. Stationed in Beirut, Lebanon, Fisk reports for the U.K.-based Independent newspaper and is widely read around the world.

    Israelis are sore losers.

I think they (the Israeli's) are brazenly trying to let America know that they are the real Super Power and America can kiss it backside. Im surprised that they didn't tell Obama outright that he should tend to his own business and return home and tend you own flock. Imagine our new Prez Notanyahu (Net tan Yahoo)

For more than two decades, Robert Fisk has used his correspondent card to proudly become a crusader for Arab and Palestinian causes. In the 1970s, Fisk reported from Beirut for the London Times. And now, writing for the Independent (UK), Fisk blames Israel for all the Palestinians' ills, and blames the West for all Muslim disgruntlement
