'It's time' to right the wrongs of Richard Nixon and reclassify cannabis hemp. Richard Nixon left the office of President in shame, but left us with his shameful mistake. Cannabis and heroin are not equal. That's just crazy.
Why would our leaders follow along on crazy. The facts are out there. They are no longer hidden. They know! Cannabis hemp facts are too important to ignore.
Our economy and environment need hemp for industry! We need jobs and a new market to stimulate our economy. Stop the madness! "Reefer Madness" was a movie, not reality! "Hemp for Victory" was a documentary made by our own government, based on reality. Why do our leaders choose fiction, over reality? That's just crazy! 'It's time' to stop the madness and reclassify cannabis hemp.

It is a good step to a great usable cloth that lasts and lasts. It will be wonderful to have it more prolific and more avalible for the thousands of products that can be produced from it.

UC meet your supporters....................
... In the countries Antigua and Barbuda(Large quantities), Kuwait(Sale and cultivation), Malaysia(Possession over 200 Grams), Saudi Arabia(Dealing/Smuggling large amounts; becoming rare to execute), Somalia, Thailand(Selling only), Singapore(over 17 Ounces), Indonesia, Bali, and possibly other countries you can actually be executed for Marijuana. In fact, over 200 people have been executed in Malaysia for drug offenses since 1974."
Thanks you

The only thing I wish they'd do with smoke able drugs is make it fall under the same laws as masturbation.
It's something that is entirely acceptable but stop doing it in public because folks that aren't doing it don't necessarily want your stink on them.
If that was done I'd be 110% in support of just about anything. Keep it in your house, not because its evil but because not everyone wants to be forced to deal with the health consequences of someone elses habits.

Now that I've been busted for growing I am dedicating the rest of my life to the cultivation of ganja and hemp. I will also do what I can to win the release of all non-violent drug related prisoners.

i signed up to this site just to respond to 'unclecharlie' .. you can't be serious ? .. are you a mormon ? .. google hemp , your sitting in front of the internet (using IE6 most likely) so do some research and maybe open your little mind to something ..
our world needs this , we need to use hemp for paper and its oil for plastic , its cheap , grows fast and can be planted in all different climates .. go hemp nation!
or we could carry on in unclecharlie's world , kill all the trees and continue to let our troops die in a war for oil ..

Firstly, I am not a GOP Supporter- i didn't vote for Bush, I voted for Ron Paul. You want to talk about an illegal, immoral war- this is the one we've been stuck in- for long has it been- 5,6 years?? We went to war based on an outright lie that has caused tens of thousands of deaths. Re: the uses of hemp, I'm willing to read all the hemp related posts, and then decide. As far as I'm concerned, the jury's still out.

The jury hasn't been out on the uses of Hemp for a few hundred years at least (if not a thousand).
The jury on hemp being bad didn't even exist till what...this last century? Even then it only happened after false reports of mass murders in Texas because of Pot (no mass murders had even happened because of anything in Texas at the time).

hemp and marijuana should both be legal... I fail to see how jailing people and outlawing a very good resource is a logical way of thinking???? I feel like I'm in a twilight zone.

Hopefully more people have open discussions about this. I try hard to show people that it's an absurd waste of money and a cause of social problems to stigmatize drug users (particularly marijuana growers and smokers). People with addiction problems need counseling and the love of friends and family, not a cold gray cell.
Al Roker's "Marijuana Inc" was an investigative report played during prime time on MSNBC a few months ago--it talked about legalization and decriminalization as real solutions to end the drug war.

I find myself saying that a lot, about feeling like I'm in the twilight zone. It seems most people appeal to opinion/fear/propaganda/Societal-pressures rather than appealing to logic and reason. This issue (cannabis prohibition) is an excellent example where our current "war on drugs" mentality is not supported in any way by rational thought, and it saddens me that it is so difficult to move forward with so many people refusing to really think about it and understand the truth.

I would say a naive response unclecharlie. There is so much information out there on the many uses of hemp, there is absolutely no reason why hemp is legal to import but we cannot grow it in the USA. Why?

That is messed up man, there is a 46 to 11 vote from the house which,If I am not mistaken,is supposed to represent the people of Oregon, but then it is up to one person to determine (and more-than-likely not approve) the matter!!??!! That is a waste of alot of money and 57 people's time!!

"House oks industrial hemp
by Melissa Repko, The Oregonian
Monday June 29, 2009, 7:04 PMSALEM--Oregon is a step closer to growing industrial hemp with a House vote on Monday.
Industrial hemp, a cousin to marijuana, can be used to make clothes and food products. The bill would allow the production, commerce, and possession of hemp products. The House passed the bill on Monday with a 46-11 vote.
Rep. Jules Bailey, D-Portland, demonstrated the diversity of industrial hemp products with visual aids like hemp tortilla chips and a non-dairy milk product.
Holding up a T-shirt, Bailey said "Senate Bill 676 is about rope, not dope."
The bill heads to the governor's desk."
So, it hasn't been passed yet - But there's a good chance it will

Legalizing hemp is the backdoor way of legalizing marijuana. No other reason behind wanting it legalized. None whatsoever.

I disagree, though I'm sure that's the motivator for most of the posters here.
The stuff really is a pretty good industrial crop. It has several handy uses, is highly disease and insect resistant making it low maintenance and does really well in very arid soils. Abuse grade marijuana (same plant, completely different agriculture) is more or less the opposite. Getting the plant to produce THC is tricky and requires quite careful handling.
We'll see how it goes. it can always be made illegal again.

Legalizing hemp has nothing to do with growing marijuana. You just know little of the farming. Good thing current gives you initiative to learn about other views and reasoning. Hemp has over 25,000 possible uses including oil which would drive down costs of gas and production, holds oxygen and grows easier that cotton, and can replace all paper, plastic, tinfoil, and Styrofoam products. Help yourself and do some research if your interested. Peace

That way of thinking is exactly why alcohol is legal and a harmless substance like marijuana is illegal. MISINFORMATION.... HEMP is NOT Marijuana, it cannot be smoked but it can be used to make everything under the sun. We are one of the few countries who don't take advantage of it. Smoking it is completely different. Get informed before you just make coments.

Hemp is the MOST versatile plant in human existence and would radically improve the human lifestyle worldwide. That is a simple fact that onyt the most stupid and uninformed would argue against.
Sorry Charlie, those of us with our heads in reality know better. You should try it sometime.

It's about time we legalize hemp. With all of the positives things that hemp can do you would think our government would wake up. Our founding fathers knew all the positive aspects of hemp, get the big money corporations out and hemp will thrive.

This is awsome. Alot of times I hear more discussion on how legalizing weed could generate alot of money and little on how productive and economical cultivating hemp in in the states could be. It's crazy how growing hemp was/is illegal in the u.s. or anywhere. I love smoking marijuana. Peace.
