The predictions came from a Jan. 10, 2009, report issued by Christina Romer, now chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, and Jared Bernstein, currently Vice President Joe Biden’s chief economist. The administration used the report as both a blueprint and a justification for the $787-billion spending package Obama signed in February.

Unemployment was not supposed to go above 8% if we hurried up and passed the stimulus that we could not live without. Too important to fail as it were. It seems that we have eclipsed it with the bill.
Saying that unemployment would be worse without the stimulus is the same as stating so many jobs saved. There is just no way of measuring it.
I'm still waiting for my representatives on the HIll to show me where this expenditure is provided for in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution.

Like I said before; Things are worse than they appear to be. Some Financial Statistics figures are only good for general analysis, not good to assess individual or group needs. About the "stimulus," some knows by now it was not really a stimulus and some know it would not work when you give the money to the ones that caused the financial problem to begin with it.

what I find laughable are the imbeciles who say the entire current economic situation is the fault of the Obama administration.
Must have been capable of traveling backward in time to make the banks collapse and the wall street meltdown all start BEFORE he even took office.
Those people are too stupid to even deserve an answer when they post their idiotic nonsense.

Very few people stop to think that there is a time for everything under the sun. Right now it is time for people to get together and organize towards reaching some common goals. So far what I see is that some people acting negligently, carrying an addition to new news vanity and even comments that are non effective towards a public action.
