There's a new book out called "Smart Girls Marry Money: How Women Have Been Duped Into the Romantic Dream -- And How They Are Paying For It," by Elizabeth Ford and Daniela Drake. The authors say it's a good move for women to marry a wealthy man, and a bad idea to think romance will come along. Marriage, they say, is like a business move.

    • you shouldn't depend on a man to support you. you need to make your own money and be in a position to support yourself because anything could happen:

      - if he's making all the money the guy could leave you for some other chic, you end up stranded (literally and financially),
      - he can have lots and lots of money but might surprise you and become abusive. if you aren't in a position to support yourself and "need" him...bad situation (but better to be poor than slapped around).

      If he's rich that's nice (yay! extra income) , if he's not it can be just as nice as long as he's not some mooching bum who's expecting YOU to support HIM.

      SOLUTION:
      make your own money.

    • i dont know anyone with money and i can't stand the places or personalities of those with money and the places they hang out...

      i dont mind being doomed. as long as I think he's sexy, thats enough for me. rich cousins/parents will have to do. lol.
