The White House signaled a willingness Monday to compromise on details of a public plan to compete with private insurance companies as negotiators sought ways to advance health-care legislation.A senior administration official said one way to meet President Barack Obama's goals would be a mechanism under which a public plan is introduced only if the marketplace fails to provide sufficient competition on its own.
Mr. Obama has pushed hard for a public option, saying it will keep the insurance industry honest, but he has also said he won't draw a "line in the sand."
The official noted that congressional Republicans created a similar mechanism when they introduced a prescription-drug benefit in Medicare. In that case, private competition has been judged sufficient and the public option has never gone into effect.

These Republican and some Democrat's are being bought and paid for by the MOB. Get angry, take your country back from the crooks and punish them for the millions of Americans they have harmed. Any time you here a stance against the public option yell as loud as you can MAFIA! That should do it. Unless you like a country that lets the weakest among us suffer and the middle class gets destroyed.

The true fact it is that at least I do not want these private insurance companies in charge of the health care issue any longer. They're murderers under a different name. Just imagine how many people these "A" killed in the past and are killing everyday? Have you ever thought about that? It makes me sick just to think about it!!!

The Articles says: ""The goal is to have a means and a mechanism to keep the private insurers honest," he said in an interview. "The goal is non-negotiable; the path is" negotiable."
Here it is a great line for the Comedy Club to catch up with it, "to keep the private insurers honest"

Target what is making healthcare so expensive, and the free market should be able to make the changes we want to see. What are those problems?

Obama never was for a one payer system. So if you think about it he is coming around. Maybe he needs a little more pressure and he will tip. Let's keep the calls and e-mails going to him and the fat cats in the senate.

Rupert Murdoch's WSJ, much like Rupert Murdoch's Fox news twist and turn on Obama's every word. The insurance industry has promised before to be more competitive and failed. They have a monopoly presence in most states, and have no incentive to price insurance competitively. I know people, young healthy couples with one or two kids who are paying more for health insurance than they're paying for their mortgages.
A "trigger option" as this is called, is not on the table. Public option advocates will not accept it, and if it becomes a part of the healthcare reform, there will be about 10 Democratic Senators who's re-election won't happen.
This trigger option is the right wing's desperate last ditch effort to stop healthcare reform, and it is going to fail.

This is politicians way of not changing anything, or even making what we have less effective for us and better for the insurance companies.it is a release valve to diminish pulic pressure for change and dilute the responsibility.I had rather see no bill than a wore than nothing bill. This is coming from someone who is chronicly ill and will be without insurance soon. The only way they can resit the pressure and temptation from big business is when they are in dire terror (politically speaking)of the electorate.

If you water it down they will come. By the time more water is applied the river will stop we'll look around after the dust settles and we'll be exactly where we are right now.
And without any lines in the undisturbed sand.
