The death toll from the recent US drone attacks at militants' targets in the insurgency-hit Pakistan has risen to 17, local media reports say.
US pilotless aircraft fired two missiles at a Taliban hideout in South Waziristan on Tuesday.
The attack took place in the Makeen area of South Waziristan close to the Afghan border.
Earlier reports said a dozen people were killed in the lethal attack in the area controlled by Pakistan Taliban chief Baitullah Mahsud.
This is while some reports quoting intelligence officials have revealed that at least 17 people were killed and several others injured in the deadly strike.
The death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
The attack is the third in South Waziristan in less than a month near the Afghan border.
Over 60 people were killed when the drone fired missiles at a funeral procession of a Taliban commander in the volatile area.
US drones have escalated missile strikes in Pakistan since the middle of last year.
The airstrikes are said to be aimed at militants, but Pakistani media say only one in six have target pro-Taliban insurgents in the country.
Hundreds of Pakistanis have lost their lives in such attacks, which started under the Bush administration in 2006.
Islamabad has repeatedly condemned the attacks but some reports indicate that the US drones take off from airbases within the Pakistani territory.
