Distorted Perception of Beauty

This is a great video from the Dove Real Beauty ad that shows just how much Photoshop can transform appearances. Very cool, watch!

This is probably some of the most ironic, clever and manipulative advertising I've seen in a while.

The good people at Dove, by putting this sort of thing out in the open in their "Campaign for Real Beauty" is hoping to win over consumers with "honesty."

The whole goal of this is that next time a woman is in the store she'll pick up some Dove products over the rest because she'll think "Those people understand me and what beauty really is. They don't want to turn me into a supermodel, they accept me."

I don't see how this is "evolution". Its just a lot of make-up and lighting and good CGI.

So anyway, who has seen the new commercials for vibrating mascara (not Dove)? Its make-up AND a discrete sex toy! (wtf)

The kind of honesty in this advertising give me chills. I truly appreciate.

Awesome video, but not to say Dove hasn't been guilty of these crimes in the past.

Coincidentally the parent company Unilever also makes Axe products. Wonder why they never choose to feature "real women" in any of those adverts?

I wouldn't buy anything from a sister company of Vaseline, my pores feel clogged even thinking about it.

I love this video. It not only sheds some truth on an industry that has immensely affected so many people, it proves the need to reevaluate our role models. Sure, everyone may look "perfect" on paper, but in reality I we are clearly more beautiful. Sometimes, it unfortunately gets masked by pounds of make-up and digital "perfection".

...I thought she was more beautiful at the beginning of the video than the end.

Well - everybody see the beauty differently....fortunately. I find her much more pretty at the end :-)
Somebody has mentioned Real women campaign by Dove - I have to say whole thing pisses me off, because it´s saying that my wife is probably not real with her 177 cm and 55 kg. She was never on any diet and last two years she went to gym maybe twice - she was just born that way, with a body of a model. Anyway - campaign of Dove is clever, targetting to women who don´t want or can´t change themselves. Dove just forgot to say that not only these fat ladies are real wwomen...what a shame.
