I'm a huge Penn and Teller fan and can't wait to see their take on this debate. Which is to say, I can't wait to see them brutally mock some anti-videogame crazies. Bring on Jack Thompson!

I've been waiting for this episode for a while. I'm curious about who they'll bring on for both sides.

    Edit:
Also, first to name all games in the clip wins. GO!

Oh god. I cannot stand these types of people. He says that leads to school shootings!? Wow. Fire triad? Even more amazement at his ignorance. I've played a lot of violent video games in my life, and I'm perfectly fine. Fallout 3? Head shots all the way, baby! Unreal Tournament? Dismemberment with rockets. Real life? Education and empathy. What? You're surprised? You shouldn't be. I know how to separate fiction from reality.

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold? Very disturbed teens. Their parents are somewhat at fault, but so is the school too. No one cared to notice the signs. Doom wasn't at fault. The people who blame violent video games are for not taking initial interest in their children until it is too late.

I'm tired of video games taking the fall for lazy parents and schools. They are a hobby. Just like Boy Scouts, the debate team, or Little League.

I hope Penn and Teller tear this guy apart.

I wonder if Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman will be rearing his head in this episode. He first coined the term "murder simulator" in reference to FPS games back in 90's.

My favorite quote/joke from Demetri Martin:

I like video games, but they're very violent. I want to design a video game in which you have to take care of all the people who have been shot in the other games. Q: 'Hey man, what are you playing?'
A: 'Super Busy Hospital. Please leave me alone. I'm performing surgery on a man who was shot in the head 57 times.'

i liked the part in bowling for columbine where moore found out the only thing that the columbine shooters had in common with their victims was a bowling class.

EVERYONE KNOWS BOWLING MAKES YOU HOMICIDAL!!!

There are more 'fluffy' games than there are violent games out there and yes I have used a wand to heal someone in game, matter of fact. To say its just video games as the cause is ridiculous. If your argument must include a specific catalyst to kid-gun-fare you have to include movies as well. Movies add the emotional factor to justify these actions in their minds, more-so than any video game could do. If you want to say something meaningful take the Guns portion out of the triangle, or rather the Troubled Kid. Identify the violent precursors and pluck them out into discipline and respect they have not learned at home.

The video wouldn't play for me (Region problems), so if you have the same problem, just hit up the page and click "watch preview"

Violence has been going down in the US for the last 40 years or so. The level of Violence in games has been going up since its inception.

Plus (as someone who is taking a course in storytelling) Folktales from back in the day are far more horrendous and violent than anything I've ever played.

You think I'm bullshitting go read the original Red Riding hood stories or any of the most popular ones. You'll find animals being operated on while alive, animals drowned, people sliced up and used as food and drink, toes and heels being sliced off, women dancing in red hot iron shoes till they die.

Seriously. The sick shit that folks used to tell their kids far trumps anything we now play :P.

We should also introduce that dude to the scientific method.

    1. How does he explain that violent games sell MILLIONS of copies yet school shootings are extremely rare?

    2. Could one also take the gun out of his triangle and prevent the issue?

    3. Why focus on video games? Has he studied some kind of data that shows every shooter was into video games? How is that different from other people the same age/background as the shooter?
