Winamp actually ships with orb. They call it winamp remote, but it is indeed orb. I've been using orb for sometime with pretty great results. It also streams to game consoles like the xbox360 and the PS3.
I do love this workaround however. It's just a shame we can't get this type of thing working without a middleman. The better pieces of hardware work together the better the experience for the consumer..
