The Guardian's speculating that News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch, along with Google, might be weighing up putting an offer in to buy Twitter.
It's not the first time Twitter, with 30m global users, has been approached; they've previously turned down an offer of $500m from Facebook.
Two reasons why I wouldn't want Murdoch to buy Twitter:
1) He's a fan of subscription-based web revenues, having seen success with this business model from wsj.com and ft.com, and I think it's likely he'd want to charge Twitter users for access to parts of the site's services.
2) MySpace. Look what happened to that site when it sold to NC...
