I dont really think its that big of a deal. Just because they declare that girls can play doesnt mean that thousands of girls will start going out for the team. Not to be sexist but as soon as a girl gets dropped by a linebacker while going over the middle for a pass that will pretty much change her mind. That and hell week would just break the average girl down (any decent hellweek that is).

Wow. I'm impressed.

Tankguy,
That's kind of the point, here. Of COURSE girls are not going to try out by the thousands (or even the hundreds) to play varsity football...any more than those boys who weigh less than 140 pounds. In both cases, putting a gun to their heads would be a much quicker and less painful way of committing suicide, because the end result would be the same.
This is just an incredibly cynical, sexist move on Florida's part -- declaring a sport that cannot be safely played by 70-80% of girls (and probably a good 20-30% of BOYS, for that matter) to be "coeducational" so it can continue to be funded now that they have cut funding for all of the girls sports programs.
Because the football players need even MORE reasons to feel like the rules don't apply to them...
