Around 50 suspected Taliban militants have been killed in two American drone attacks in the north-west of Pakistan. The first attack, on a militant encampment, killed 10 Taliban fighters in South Wazirstan. Only a few hours later, 40 militants were killed when a US drone struck a vehicle convoy near the same area.
Since August of 2008, American drone attacks have been increasing in number and ferocity. In less than a year, over 50 combat sorties have been responsible for the deaths of 450 individuals.
