Groan...isn't there some 'other' pageant she's interested in?

You have to admit though, as horrifying as the thought of a Palin Presdency is, there is also something just terribly funny about that level of support. Even if you take away some of the uglier qualities inherent in her character -- mean-spiritedness, narrow mindedness, lack of personal and professional integity, and the like -- she is simply not very intelligent.

Undoubtedly a significant percentage of Republicans are not intelligent enough themselves to tell the difference between Palin and someone who was "smart" or "intellectually above average' or even "brain dead." But with a figure that high, you know that a significant percentage of Republicans support her despite -- or even BECAUSE -- she is a mouth breather.

I suspect it is because they are more worried that she not be an "elitist" than they are worried that if elected she would need to be told things like, "No, Sarah, we cannot DRIVE to France to meet with the French Prime Minster," "Because there is an ocean in the way," "It's called the ATLANTIC Ocean," and the ever-popular "Yes, we can go for ice cream after..."

O.K., so maybe not HYSTERICALLY funny...but at least mildly amusing... I am still puzzling out this anti-elitist thing. I read the definition of "elite," and it actually seemed to be kind of a GOOD thing...though clearly out of MY reach...
