"A new study conducted at the University of Granada sought to find if sexist humor increased the likelihood of violence and aggression towards women. The study featured 109 men between the ages of 18-26.
STEP 1: Over several weeks, these men were consistently given two sets of jokes - one with sexist connotations specifically against women, and one with ordinary, harmless jokes.
STEP 2: The men were then given scenarios of women being battered, and asked what they would do in each situation.
RESULTS: By far, the men who listened to sexist jokes related more to the abuser, and showed a willingness to sympathize with and participate in the abuse. The men who did not listen to sexist jokes had a more balanced and fair opinion of the cases, and generally found the abuser to be in the wrong."

Does this mean sexist jokes lead to violence? Does sexist material affect a person's mindset, and to what extent?

I don't think these jokes LEAD to violence.
I think exposing people to the jokes probably gives them a more laid back attitude towards the scenario though. Instead of being absolutely horrified, they are reminded of a joke.
Anyway, I think sexist jokes are lulsy. Will continue to use them every once in a while.
