So sad that there are schools cutting the arts. I was lucky enough to go to a public high school with a fantastic arts program and I hate to even imagine how miserable my high school years would have been without them.

the sentiment seems to be mutual- no one wants to see gym, art, music, and ESL go--kids need these programs to help them improve in their academic courses. Revamping the education system needs to be a priority of our government- Obama's $90 billion Act can do so much- lets hope its not a sham and we see some serious changes this year!

I literally can't imagine my HS without the theater, band and visual arts departments. I feel so lucky to have had a school that nurtured creativity as well as academics and sports. Regardless of whether or not as a student you were involved in one area or many, we were more well rounded for having the opportunity to see a community of young people flourishing in all of those areas.
