this is an interesting intro to a BIG topic, and would like to learn more about it! for instance, would love to see the story behind one of these people's addictions and recovery process, and some context about drugs in Cambodia would be helpful too.

saskia:
thanks, saskia. unfortunately, the paper ended up running the print story for editing/daily news budget reasons. that meant i had to cut what could've been a long feature into a short complementary video to accompany the web version. but after it was posted, i did talk to someone in the local UNODC office, who gave a great interview. Got anything in the pipeline already?

I deleted the previous upload, losing a couple of comments too, to put up a file with better audio levels.
@ afitzgerald: Yama and ice are prevalent in the capital, and you see it often around clubs and bars, or outside of them. people don't really do it out in the open though.
@cattheawesome: I would guess that the higher costs here are because the ingredients are all imported. On the whole, Cambodia is actually more expensive of a country relative to its neighbors, as it's not a producer (like Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam, plus India for pharmaceuticals). But it's interesting that while ice and yama are expensive here, it's cheaper than in Thailand.
