House passes resolution that states Obama was born in Hawaii, 378-0

I don't really have an opinion on this but I just think it's funny that Congress had to vote on a resoultion that proves or declares that Obama was born in Hawaii. I guess they just want to put an end to it. I'll probably side with Congress on this one as it seems to be a huge distraction from critical issues that have to be dealt with no matter who is president.***
"This evening, the House passed a resolution sponsored by Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI) that commemorates Hawaii’s 50th anniversary as a U.S. state by a vote of 378-0. The resolution also contains this provision: “Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii,” a measure that some GOP members may have had trouble supporting. However, many of the Republican representatives who at expressed at least subtle doubt that Obama was not born in the U.S. voted for the resolution. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who had earlier in the day prevented the resolution from coming to a voice vote on the House floor, and Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL), who sponsored a bill requiring presidential candidates to prove natural-born citizenship, both voted for the resolution. Rep. John Campbell (R-CA), a co-sponsor of Posey’s bill who expressed doubt about Obama’s citizenship last week on MSNBC, did not vote."
*****
Conversely, here are the reasons that the birthers still have issues regarding Obama's birth certificate (From Infowars.com):
1) the document does not have a raised, embossed seal
2) it is not signed (take a look at your birth certificate and see if it has the signature of a physician or hospital officials)
3) there are no creases from folding in the scanned version above
4) the certificate number is redacted
5) the document claims to be a “certification of birth,” not a “certificate of birth,” and
6) the date supposedly bleeding through the back of the document says 2007, not 2008, when it was allegedly released.

I have something for all you birthers to torment yourselves with..Barack Obama regardless of where he was born is calling the shots as the President Of The United States Of America and there is not a damned thing you can do about it. That bitterness that you have in your mouths...get used to it because you are going to be swallowing it for at least 3.5 more years, probably 7.5 None of you loudmouths have achieved anything even close to what this man has accomplished..so in that regard I have to tell you something...nobody but maybe your fellow idiots finds anything you have to say of any consequence..to the rest of us, you are just annoying, or we are entertained by your child like insistence that you are right.right right...please continue to amuse me, I enjoy your antics, it's like watching Jim Bob and Bubba a'huntin' fer that danged Bigfoot..they jest knowd he's out thar in them woods!

This is about as worthwhile as passing legislation as a formal apology for slavery. What a waste of time and money.
Before you attack, I do not agree with slavery. I'm saying that a formal apology at this point in time is a moot point, and nothing more than a political gesture.

Obama is embarrassed? What up the fools that represent the Red States that continue to pursue this RIDICULOUS issue? What up about Lou Dobbs abusing his position at CNN to give credence to these claims? What about the thousands of bigoted people that simply can't accept he won, handily? The lunacy, denial and bigotry of anyone who keeps brining up the president's citizenship is so palpable, you need to be embarrassed for yourselves. Meanwhile, you continue to harp on this, you children's teeth fallout because you can't afford to get them fixed, and you can't get employment because your busy complaining about NONSENSE to get off your backside and go DO SOMETHING, choosing instead to blaming on whatever ethnic group you don't like. Ok, so I've checked out this so called birth certificate. It's typed on laser paper updated on 11/01.
So if Obama was born in 1961 how did they get laser paper from 2001 way back then?
So this birth certificate was typed after Obama was 40 years old.
Still not the original. And the birth announcements could have been put in the paper by the grandparents to let their friends know they had a grandson. Doesn't say where the child was born, just to whom. - 7 months ago

You have some interesting points here.
But even if they were all true, it is still insufficient evidence to revoke a man's citizenship.
All you have done here is questioned the evidence presented to you by Obama's supporters.
To truly overcome the burden of proof that this extraordinary claim makes, requires some tangible evidence presented on your side of the argument, not just nitpicking the Obama's defense.
Things like:
Evidence Obama's mother was out of the country at the time of his birth.
or
Evidence that Obama's mother did not give birth at the place claimed. (Note: Lack of birth certificate doesn't *prove* this)Without either of these things you only have shoutable insinuations, rather than a credible argument.

I also wonder why he doesn't just show his school and medical records as well. I had to show all of those things to attain my lowly Law enforcement position in life.
Even if he was not born in Hawaii I would not want to see the chaos riots and loss of life that would ensue If he admitted it, or it was proven. Perhaps in future elections a background check and and more transparency of ones past should be in order. - 7 months ago

What we have to remember here is that these "birthers" are directly related to and interbred with the "flat earthers" and "witch burners" of past. It has taken hundreds of years to convince them (not all but most) that their neighbor does not fly on a broomstick and that you can safely go on a cruise. Why should we think they would be convinced of the truth any easier now? Give them a few years and maybe they will come around.

"Why should we think they would be convinced of the truth any easier now?"
The research says that we probably shouldn't think they'll come round - people with that mindset, it has been shown, respond to refutations by *increasing* their belief of the refuted material. They literally can't think straight.
This unfortunately even applies when the refutations come from those they originally agreed with [i.e., Ann Coulter's contribution will be ignored and if Lou Dobbs comes out against them that won't work either].

To the Birthers,
Ooooh, OK, I see your point, you're totally right! He is an illegal alien. Always has been. Yep. Yessir. He got into public schools in the mid-west without a birth certificate. He got a driver's licence and nobody asked for any form of ID. Then he got into Occidental college without ever proving who he was. They gave scholarships and loans to an illegal alien. Then, he registered to vote and registered for the selective services without a positive ID, because White, single, mothers, with half African children with Muslim names HAVE SOOoO much pull in America. Then, there's silly little Harvard Law School. The Registar didn't check him out either, what a dumbass. Obama was the first "brown" editor of the Harvard Law Review and still, he slipped through the cracks. As a "community organizer" in Chicago he registered people to vote, when he himself (being an illegal alien) should not have been able to vote......,weird. Motivation? Then there was his run for Senate follwed by his bid for the Presdency. Lots of people gave him millions of dollars to his "certified" campaigns, yet, noone looked into "who" he really was or "where" he was really from. Hummmm. Then, the State of Illinois and the Federal Government of the United States of America cut him PAY CHECKS(contrary to federal law). The IRS just let it slide. They're cool like that. And Noone in Congress, the DNC, the elections committee, the FBI or the Secret Service could stop this illegal alien. AND POOF! He's our first Black President. Makes sense to me.I am retarded.
If you can't read the sarcasm between the lines, then you too, are retarded. Start holding your breathe until I tell you to stop.

Isn't this what Iran is just now going through and we call it foul? Isn't it strange that we need a vote of congress to legalize what may just be another runaway election? I didn't even think about it, until this vote of congress to legitimize Obama. Now I am wondering what is next? One thing is sure money can buy everything and political bartering is proof of that. Now perhaps congress can pass a resolution that Dick Cheney was born on a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy and we caint prosecute him and is congress also includes all NeoCons in this resolution.

Yet here you claiming, despite all evidence to the contrary, that indeed, the earth is flat. You've lost touch with reality, at least when it comes to this issue and frankly, listening to people like you is embarassing.
Along those lines, I want you to prove to me you were born in this country, but your birth certificate, statements from your mother and father, your pastor and siblings. relevant town officials, newspaper notifications and eye witness testimony don't count as proof. I'm waiting.

I agree, appeals to authority to attempt to shut down an argument is a known fallacious argument tactic.
But, on the flip side, the concept of "Burden of Proof" is a well understood mechanism for protecting individuals from having to defend themselves against attacks lacking merit.
Here is the following evidence that supports that Obama is a natural born citizen:
1.) Release of Birth Certificate
2.) Hawaii Governor stating that Birth Certificate is on file
3.) Two Hawaiian newspapers listing birth announcements
4.) Obama obtained a Passport to visit Pakastan, so must have provided a birth certificate. As far as I know, the entire Birther argument consists of only attacks on these evidence, and provides no evidence themselves. If you feel I'm wrong about that, please help me out.
Finally, let's say someone wanted to strip your US Citizenship from you, what sort of evidence would you expect them to present against you?
At minimum, you think you'd require some sort of witnesses or documentation that I was born elsewhere, or that can confidentially state I *was not* born where I claimed. To me, that is the minimum burden of proof before I can take any such claims seriously.
