Given the blurry line between journalism and entertainment, Wall St. Cheat Sheet has decided to launch a First Amendment Award Series for Outstanding Journalism. The inaugural winner for Best Blog is Zero Hedge.

We believe media is continuing a major paradigm shift wherein old-school media outlets will continue to lose market and mind share to those who simply do the best reporting and offer the most valuable information. We believe that cynical investors will gravitate away from cheerleading and entertainment because no matter how financially illiterate they are, Pavlov’s Dog tells us investors will ultimately learn to not respond to the bell if the bowl is empty or filled with poison.

    • If there exists a blury line between true Journalism and "entertainment", it's because Corporate TV can't distinguish the difference. They are as separate as oil and water. Greedo idiots like Michael Eisner & synchophants have misrepresented "news" is "entertainment" (their quoted words) because their TV audience is already preselected not to be able to discern the difference. If a person/family of people have low IQs , can't afford decent cable or satelite TV channels, haven't any interest in watching a TVed program for educational purposes like National Geographic or Discovery Science channels, and would rather play gamer toys, what else would they watch local channels 3, 5, or 9 TV for but for entertainment ? Blaze' sitcoms, game shows, and kids cartoons aren't going to attract savy citizens with adult minds. They're going to attract adult childrens' minds,of all ages. It's no wonder why people vegetate in front of the boob tube, and need have others "tell" them info hypnoticly misrepresented as news. Anything would be cued to seem like news to Hulu's mush heads. TV "news" viewers are not the kind of people who would fail to accept whatever they were told as the truth because they're not of any mind set to question either its accuracy or its veracity. TV consumers don't care if corporate comercial sponsors have sanitized the presentation as a cover up to obstruct their viewing the truth. They show you what they want you to see/hear because you're their market, and they want to control your beliefs. Examples: Will you ever see/hear any mention made of the 10 most censored news stories of the year on ANY TV news channel ? No. Will you ever find out the true reason why the Gummint has funded converter boxes to make sure all TV viewers can access digital TV broadcasts ? No. Will you ever see them represent a contradiction to their slant w/o putting an editorialized spin on it first ? No. Because their dictating to you as if they are you're boss, and you are their secretary whose only purpose is to note what they say, so that you can continue to be under their control. Yet they're not paying you, you're paying them through their commercial sponsors. They're not motivated to allow you to think for yourself and make judgements for yourself to act independently of them. They want to manipulate your
minds so that they can snare you to be dependent upon them. People watch TV "news" because it's more important to them to believe what others want them to believe. So that the herd mentality can continue. No comercial sponsor of any of the major TV networks wants you to know that they've made it cheaper for you to buy their chocolate candy because they use child slave labor in 3rd world countries. You might actualy object and not buy what they're selling you, which is all their so called "news" is. You can't watch the truth on commercial TV. You can only watch the TV, seeing others tell you what they want you to know for their own ulterior motives which you'll never have a clue to discover. In fact, you'll never even suspect reality is anything other than what their mind controll over their TV viewers paints it to be. Because you can't package truth. It's not for sale. You are though. To them anyway. So people go from entertainment to the late night fairy tale bedtime stories they want to hear from their favorite "personalities" who've become Show Biz "celebrities" so they can be comforted before they tuck you into bed, misrepresented as "news". Get real. You won't ever experience them elevating your mind with the truth after you've watched them say: COME ON DOWN !!! no matter what time of the day, evening or night their featured attractions are scheduled. Because you'll never see the truth on an entertainment media any more than you'll see water mix with oil. I watch various TV channels either for entertainment or for education. But not for corporate propaganda no matter what word they use to misrepresent it. It's not worth my time
