When I first started considering Linux, I could not obtain answers to some very basic questions. Neither Wikipedia nor the Linux documentation were of much help. This article intends to fill those gaps. It is intended for Windows users who are considering Linux for the first time. This article is non-technical and fairly opinionated.

      Not true. In Ubuntu and other distributions there are package managers with comprehensive repositories. You can open a program and select the program you need, it will download and install automatically. Using the package manager you can update your entire system with the click of a button, unlike Windows where you would have to update individual programs that are not updated by Windows update.
