A photographer/reporter approached the woman on the end and wanted to see what the poster was. As the woman went to show the photographer/reporter what the poster was, a man from the bleachers stood up and snatched the poster from the woman and photographer/reporter.
As the woman went to retrieve her poster the police stepped in and escorted the woman and the man from the building. The poster was not of Obama, it was not pro health care, the poster that was taken from the woman and wrinkled up into a ball was of Rosa Parks.
National news coverage only showed the woman being escorted from the forum and left out the fact that it was the man who started the incident. Not to mention it was a poster of Rosa Parks.

why the hell did they pounce on her? She was attacked by that guy. This is bullshit!
-
My heart breaks at the intolerance. This is injustice.
-
One police officer went with the white guy that stole and ripped the poster, and 5 went with the black lady that it belonged to. I guess he was the victim.
-
They probably weren't afraid of her. If we don't make some demands, this shit is going to get worse. It is being financed and organized by the insurance industry. Do we really want to buy insurance from them?
-
that guy should have been paying attn to the speaker instead of minding other folks business...
-
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere! Dr. King.
-
We aren't stupid. We can't let the insurance industry profit from this activity. This behavior is criminal.
-
Why was she carrying a poster of Rosa Parks to a town hall about health care reform?
-
So you see the slight of hand right? Yeah, it's pretty much like that for like, everything...
-
I guess she feels as though she is still riding at the back of the bus in terms of health care reform. There that wasn't that hard to figure out. It's a lot better than a hitler poster or drawing a mustache on an Obama poster. How could any person be inflamed by a poster of a woman that was as peaceful as MLK. But still some nut thinks so.
-
Because this nut was looking for an excuse to be violent. He represents the mindless anger of the, shout them down, movement.
-
Well, Kenny, these town hall meetings attract all sorts of nuts, on both sides of the fence. But this the 1st Amendment at work. At least they can speak out, and not be hauled off by the Gestapo!

"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money-power of the country will endeavor to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed."
~Abraham Lincoln

Insurance agencies need to be stripped of their power and money.
Period.
$1,200 a MONTH for health insurance...?
Where does this money go when I'm not going to the doctor and I'm not sick...?
Oh.. (Looks at the insurance agent that buys a new Cadillac every year.)
I'd like a REFUND, please. I've been overpaying for at least 12 years. Where is this money going?
grrr

I wonder how many of these "grassroots" opponents got laid off this year because of the recession. And now they're on the same side as the corporate greed that's had a choke hold on this country for decades. Someone should really clue them in as to how much they're being brainwashed.

Anybody have any questions about racism being the real issue in these town hall meetings still?
People want "their country back" because their country never had a black man as president since it was founded.
-
It is amazing they have been around since the 60's.And their guacamole is fantastic.

asherp, I just read an opinion article in which the writer said her belief is that much of this anger especially from the, conservative South, is about having a black President. She also said that's what they really mean when they talk about getting "their country back". Of course they can't actually say that because they then would be called racists.
-
The wilful ignorance of many of the people who are being bussed in for these town hall meetings is just so unutterably sad. They have become so wrapped up in their irrational hatred of government that they have become characitures
I watched a number of them being interviewed outside a meeting earlier this evening and was simply blown away by the bizarre coccoons of untruths, half-truths, distortions and above all utter irrelevancies with which they have surrounded themselves in an apparent effort to be certain that no actual "facts' intrude on their preconception that "the government" has personally marked them and is determined to do everything in its power to make their lives miserable.
I was alternately fascinated by their bizzarre illogic an
d terribly, terribly embarassed for them. Someday they might well become informed and will look back with horror on these peformances...
