I did this several years ago (allowing for cable box)- extended rear projection TV into closet of utility room behind the living room to free up space in a too small room

Top marks for innovation, but they get a zero for their property value possibly going way down.

Is that the cable box in the other room? How does he change the channel?

When you think about it its a great green idea. Get a tv like that off of craigslist instead of buying new flat screen one and do what they did. You save money and some waste.

or you could just use the tv and not fuck up your walls trying to make it look like a flat screen?

I cant stop laughing!...i thought about this idea years ago before flatscreens...this is a total fail though...what if someone buys him a tv for a holiday or something?...LOL...what if the shit breaks?...lol...what if a drunk person comes in and opens that door thinking its a bathroom?..lol..a million things could go wrong with that setup..he had to be high..

Hmm, fail or win?
I'd say it's a win for ingenuity, but since you have to *go to a different room* to change the channel on your cable box...

It could also be a massive fail if the person removed studs from a load bearing wall, and then your fake thin screen turns into a house collapsing :)

Dah! Is good!
My only concern is the door behind the back end of the monitor. Might have to fix that so it opens the other way.
Oh, and then there's the rebuilding when the monitor stops working.

BenDorries:
It's a fail. He destroyed the wall and the use of the other room in a practical way. Besides, the TV he has stuck in the wall is OLD technology and probably has a terrible picture like those types of TVs are notorious for ( Tri-Lens rear projection )
