Inside an aging sports arena, where rows of dental chairs and a hospital smell have replaced the former Los Angeles Lakers basketball court, thousands of Americans are seeking free healthcare.Hundreds were turned away just on Tuesday, the first day of a weeklong clinic run by the nonprofit Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corp as part of its mission to provide free health, dental and eye care in needy spots around the world.
Please, tell your fellow Americans why you don't think they need to be insured? These are the same Doctors Without Borders we see going to Africa and India.

Every american is entitled to the same quality health care but the elite plan to make sure we don't get it! the taking away of our Constitutional rights, the FEMA concentration camps, troops stationed on US soil to be used against americans, all this spells the end of democracy as we know it people! A lot of Americans were conned into letting this happen by a lying government fronting for the elite and many of us will die as a result!

I am someone who has no healthcare, I have not had healthcare in three years. As a student in college working part time, which most part time jobs do not offer health insurance, I am just wondering why more people are not for a goverment based system? I also do not understand why if it seems to work for other countries such as Canada, England, and France, why cant it work for us? I mean really, what happens if someone without health insurance gets extremely ill and is hospitalized and has a low income? They are brought back to health and left with debt?
So many questions needing answers, and so many issues that need immediate attention.

this is a system that we just can't throw away and start over again. the solution, i believe, is to outlaw malpractice insurance and have public m&m hearings, with the doctor held not responsible for or disfigurement if he made a reasonable effort.
doctors pay over a million a year for malpractice, what a surgeon or anesthesioligist pays must be mind boggling.
insurance is the evil that destroyed our medical system. insurance is not the solution.
the name insurance should be changed to the more accurate term insecurity. - 6 months ago

The strangest thing about the entire health care debate to me is that so many people seem to have lost sight of a the simple fact that the healthier the nation, the more productive and the wealthier. A decade or 2 more of the way things have been going and we will not be able to compete at all.

Health Insurance? What for? "People should be entitled to the BEST Medical Care anywhere.....without concern for their income, job changes of any sort."
I'm just sick and tired of those silly Health Insurance ads. I had such coverage....and I got was ripped off. When they wanted me to re-join for a better health plan they offered, I threw that "We miss you. Please come back!" letter away.
THAT is one of many reasons why I support HR 676.

If you committ a crime and are incarcerated in jail or prison. You will get FREE HEALTHCARE, DENTAL, ROOM & BOARD, AND SCHOOL, DIPLOMA'S, FREE COLLEGE TUTION COURSE'S AND NEVER HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING BACK TO THE TAX PAYERS EVER!!! Now what is the US coming to when Child molester's, & rapists & murderers have better healthcare and coverage over LAW ABIDING US CITIZEN'S AND REGULAR COLLEGE STUDENTS. I have 4 son's, they are all headed for College. 2 of them are already in College, but they have no Healthcare, dental, or help with room & board. They have never been arrested for any reasons ever! DON'T THEY DESERVE HEALTHCARE & HELP WITH SCHOOL TUTION'S AND RENT AND FOOD. ARE WE JUST 2ND CLASS CITIZEN'S??? Debrinconcita in Portland Oregon. WHERE'S THE HUMANITY???

get a job, get health insurance. We have all heard tons of stories of LEGAL immigrants coming off the boat, who can barely speak English, with nothing in their pockets, and making millions. Well, now's your chance! This is really the greatest country in the world...make your own rags to riches story.

That's a myth. It conjures up the idea that the U.S.A. is the only country where real life rags to riches stories exist. That is just not true, not true at all.

I bet that there is a lot more than a "Hospital" smell.

This mural is highly offensive. The USA does not have the world's highest standard of living, and even back then, it was only one of the world's high standard of living for white people only.

That was my point in using this picture. This is EXACTLY whats happening in America today. Those who can afford health care say ours is the best in the world; those who can't are standing in lines waiting for free clinics and praying for health care reform. What's changed?

QuestionGeek:
I would think that the colors of the people in the line would be a lot more varied today than they were back then. Most of the people I see at some welfare offices of DPSS offices are latino, not black. In other offices the majority is black, although I do see white people there too. However it may just be a matter of demographics which determines what color the people are standing in the line.

QuestionGeek:
I think that's the point. The mural shows a bunch of white people standing in a bread line, because the economy crashed.
And even then, that mural was propaganda.
The roaring 20s only brought wealth to the top 5%.
The majority of Americans, of any race, were all poor, even during the height of the "good times."

asherp, the people in that bread line don't look white to me, they look black, except for maybe 1 person at the end (far left)
